MADS downloads

Revised version 1.1.0 is now available

The content-assist features of the Mads Editor were not always satisfactory. When entering an item in the definition of a Plan, a Table or an Expression in a Script, the choice of options was often a very long list including more than just what was possible. In Mads Version 1.1.0 this has been corrected, at the expense of some changes in the syntax that make the existing model files NOT fully compatible with this revised version. See details in the documentation (help or free-standing manual).

The following is for Windows operating systems.

MADS as a free-standing software (Eclipse RCP)

Download and unzip (say in C:\) the mads_1.1.0_3.8.zip files from the MADS site. The Java runtime should be available on your system (jre7).

MADS as an add-on to Eclipse

Starting with 1.1.0, Mads development has been moved to Eclipse 3.8.0, Java 7 and XText 2.3.

1. Download Eclipse 3.8.0 or any higher 3.8.x configuration from http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.8-201206081200/, or Eclipse 4.2 or higher from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ and un-zip to install it. Both 32 and 64 bits versions should work.

2. Download MADS_Feature_version.zip (.eg. MADS_Feature_1.1.0.zip) from the MADS site. Use the “Help>Install new software” feature of Eclipse to add the file as a local archive file. Un-check “Group items by category” and install the feature.

3. If you want to experiment with XText, the tool used to develop the Mads language editor, download the latest all-in-one update site zip file from http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/tmf/downloads/?project=xtext. Use the “Help>Install new software” feature of Eclipse. Click on “Available software sites”. Add the file and install as above.

MADS Manual

The Mads’s manual is part of Mads distributions as Eclipse Help, and available in Html format as a separate archive. Download Mads_manual_1.1.0.zip from the MADS site.

Unzip the archive anywhere, it will install all required files in a directory called Mads_manual_1.1.1. Double-click the Mads_Manual.html file to display the manual in your web browser. You can also edit the provided link to fit your set-up and move it to your desktop.

Earlier version

Final version 1.0.0 is now available

Herd model equations have been validated.

The following is for Windows operating systems.

MADS as a free-standing software (Eclipse RCP)

Download and unzip (say in C:\) one of the two following files from the MADS site, one is with and the other one without the required Java runtime:

MADS_RCP_version_with_JRE.zip
MADS_RCP_version.zip

MADS as an add-on to Eclipse

The minimum Eclipse configuration is the Platform Runtime binary, but any configuration of Eclipse 3.6.2 or higher should work. Starting with RC2 version, Mads development has been moved to Eclipse 3.7 and XText 2.0

1. Download eclipse-platform-3.7-win32.zip or any higher configuration from http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.7-201106131736/index.php (Released Candidate 1 – RC1 – used Eclipse 3.6.2) and un-zip to install it.

2. If you have or intend to have Java as part of your configuration, download MADS_Feature_version.zip (.eg. MADS_Feature_1.0.0.zip) from the MADS site and unzip it. It will create the directory Mads_Feature. Use the “Help>Install new software” feature of Eclipse to add the directory as a local repository. Un-check “Group items by category” and install the feature. Depending on your Eclipse installation the process might take some time to fetch all requires plugins from the Eclipse sites (e.g XText plugins). Some parts of Java will also get installed.

3. If you want a Java-free installation, download Mads_version_platforminstall (e.g. Mads_1.0.0_platforminstall) from the MADS site and unzip it. It will create the directory Mads_platforminstall. Use the “Help>Install new software” feature of Eclipse. Click on “Available software sites”. Add the Mads_platforminstall directory as a local repository and de-select all other update sites so that the installer will not be able to fetch unwanted plugins. Click OK and proceed as in 2 above.

MADS Manual

The Mads’s manual is part of Mads distributions as Eclipse Help, and available in Html format as a separate archive. Download Mads_manual_1.0.0.zip from the MADS site.

Unzip the archive anywhere, it will install all required files in a directory called Mads_manual. Double-click the manual.html file to display the manual in your web browser.
