  • Works well. Nice feature set. Could use better documentation on starting and stopping services. I corrupted my first trial by not shutting down correctly ;(. Community edition really would benefit by have the document preview working for all document types. Seriously, not including the open source Office interface, in an open source Document Management System is a drawback. The method is relatively simple since using LibreOffice just a call such as: call "C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice 5\program\soffice.exe" -convert-to pdf 212.doc results in 212.pdf which could then be previewed.

  • Hi! Here is my experience so far: Install was a bit tricky but the program works flawlessly. 1. Install 1.1 Preparation Download the lastest version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Download the latest LogicalDOC Version Download the latest version of the MySQL Community Edition 1.2 Installation of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Install the Java Runtime Environment you just downloaded. Set the JRE_HOME varibale as described in this article: as links are not allowed here google for "Configuring the JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME Environment Variables on a Windows Server" Please keep in mind that this artice refers to an older version of JAVA, so you might have to adapt the storage path of the JRE_HOME varibale to something like C:\Program Files\Java 1.3 Installation of the MySQL Community server Edition Install the MySQL Community edition an note down the database engine user, password and the port number. 1.4 Install LogicalDOC Run the LogicalDOC installer and follow the instructions. In the database section you have to fill in the noted data from the database installation. 1.5 Changing the Java amount of memory Go to the folder you installed LogicalDOC. Now enter the "bin" folder and then single click on a file that ist called logicaldoc or logicaldoc.bat and choose edit. Look out for an -Xmx option and change that argument from -Xmx512m to -Xmx1024M and save the file (make sure you use "M" and not "m" !!!) 1.6 Running the LogicalDOC Server Still in the bin folder hold down the Shift key and right klick into an empty space and launch the command prompt (console). then type in the following command to start LogicalDOC: logicaldoc.bat start and press enter Now wait until the server finishes to start up. After the first startup (and only after the first!) of the server you have to restart the server. to do so type: logicaldoc.bat stop press enter logicaldoc.bat start and press enter Now wait for the server to start up again and then launch LogicalDOC from the Start Menu. Good luck everyone!

  • This is one of the best documented project I ever seen. I installed community version with no problems (tomcat bundle). DMS has good looking and fast web interface. Webservices API works perfectly. Good job!

  • Amazing to find such a useful tool as an open source project. Thanks!
  • LogicalDOC is a darn good open source project, has a good organization of the source code and uses professional libraries (despite being open source). The system works well and shines for the efficiency of its search engine and the modern user interface.

  • I tested the software using their 30 day eval license attached to the commercial product and it was awesome. However, the CE has a clunky windows batch file installer that includes no documentation. Multiple posts to their forums resulted in some excellent advice from some really nice folks but they were never able to help me figure out why the CE edition won't install on any of the three machines I tried it on. So while I give the commercial edition high marks, I must rate the CE unacceptable due to poor documentation and a buggy installer.
  • I really liked LogicalDOC. The graphical interface is very well organized and the program works like a clock. Great work !

  • I tried some of the other projects here at Sourceforge Knowledge tree, Owl, and Open KM. I choose LogicalDoc because it had good documentation, worked with Postgres, and had the features my team was looking for in a DMS.
