🚀 LobeHub Release (20260920)

Planned Release Date: September 20, 2026
Since v2.2.17: 177 non-merge commits · 12 contributors (excluding bots)

This week brings text-anchored document comments, conversation-linked Goals, clearer CLI diagnostics, and a more reliable self-hosted setup, alongside fixes for long-running Agent work and Desktop updates.

⚙️ Upgrade & Migration Notes

  • Docker Compose: Chats now use server-side Gateway Mode by default. Existing deployments need deployment-specific JWKS_KEY, matching public-only JWKS_PUBLIC_KEY, GATEWAY_SERVICE_TOKEN, and a browser-reachable AGENT_GATEWAY_URL. Follow the updated Compose upgrade guide; do not retain the old example signing key. Missing settings produce a startup warning and chats fall back to browser execution. AGENT_GATEWAY_INTERNAL_URL and S3_INTERNAL_ENDPOINT separate container-internal access from browser-facing URLs. (#19583)
  • Compose startup: Bucket initialization uses rustfs/rc; upload CORS and PostgreSQL initialization/health checks are corrected. The setup script downloads templates from main and supports curl and macOS host-IP detection. (#19572, [#19590])
  • Database: Migrations 0162–0166 add search-capture version tracking, Environment/Instance/project associations, document-comment selection anchors, delivery-standard provenance, and nullable device CPU architecture. Environment support in this range is schema-only, not provisioning or execution integration. Back up the database before upgrading; this release preparation has not verified a full production upgrade or rollback. (#19537, [#19270], [#19595], [#19627], [#19510])
  • Plain PostgreSQL search: FTS_SEARCH_PROVIDER=pg_like explicitly selects an extension-free query backend for smaller instances; it is not an automatic fallback. Historical migrations still require pg_search, so this setting alone does not make a fresh extension-free installation possible. (#19188)
  • Bot credentials: List/detail responses mask credentials, and lh bot view --show-credentials is removed. (#19452)

✨ Highlights

  • Continue after a rate limit — Transfer an external CLI Agent conversation to another Agent, schedule continuation, or retry. Product acceptance remains incomplete as noted below. (#19080)
  • Pull requests in the Desktop sidebar — A native PR tab brings descriptions, checks, commits, activity, and merge actions into the Working Sidebar. (#19506)

  • Comments beside the text — Select a document excerpt to comment on it, then follow the highlighted passage and its aligned comment card. (#19602, [#19659])

  • Goals from a conversation — /goal lets a heterogeneous Agent supervise work from its current conversation; the linked Goal tray and portal are behind the enableTopicAcceptance Lab. (#19588)
  • One diagnostic command — lh doctor checks credentials, endpoints, scope, device connectivity, and execution with selectable profiles and actionable results. (#19626)
  • A simpler Desktop composer — Quick Composer opens for typing first and captures screenshots when requested. (#19523)
  • Resource previews in place — Files and Pages open in an inline detail panel, keeping the resource list within reach. (#19599)
  • More durable Agent runs — Operation-token renewal and corrected failure handling reduce interruptions and prevent discarded output from being reported as success. (#19548, [#19549], [#19658])

🏗️ Core Agent & Architecture

  • Goal plans express dependencies across rounds; documents written through lh doc become run deliverables. After final acceptance checks pass, the Goal can surface its delivered document. (#19587)
  • Agent steps share message reads and reuse turn-invariant facts; full completion-state snapshots become opt-in. (#19683, [#19690], [#19682])
  • With the gatewayMux Lab enabled, supported tool results send smaller display payloads and recover full command/document output on demand. Follow-up fixes restore full bodies before transcript replay and cover the command-output family. (#19666, [#19694], [#19695])

  • Consecutive server Agent steps run in one invocation, with deferred work settled between steps and queued messages able to request a turn handoff. (#19470, [#19531], [#19541], [#19585])

  • Shared rules now assemble Agent configuration, context, model parameters, tool rules, tool manifests, and Skills across execution hosts. (#19476, [#19514], [#19517], [#19525], [#19576], [#19586], [#19604], [#19616], [#19667])
  • Goals use the system planner and supervising Agent, show Task assignees, retain graph position during interaction, and display live Task runs in the result panel. The default per-Task attempt budget increases from 3 to 8. (#19477, [#19578], [#19591], [#19535], [#19575])
  • Acceptance review receives evidence frames inline, and review errors no longer consume Task attempts. Public discussion gains moderation and clearer permission boundaries. (#19565, [#19448])
  • Delivery-standard capture can derive lessons from settled rejection feedback and retain their provenance. This is backend groundwork; standards pages and automatic enforcement are not delivered here. (#19629, [#19627])

📱 Platforms & Integrations

  • Devices report CPU architecture on registration; existing rows remain nullable until upgraded clients reconnect. Local and remote Codex quota handling share the same account model. (#19510, [#19678])

  • The pi integration uses RPC transport and reuses its process across turns. Windows Claude SDK shim handling and Android Codex Gateway routing are corrected. (#18346, [#18674], [#18717])

  • OAuth applications support web redirect URIs, and Android passkey origins are accepted. (#19504, [#19640])
  • Gateway connection multiplexing is available behind a Labs toggle, sharing one WebSocket per user. (#19557)
  • Desktop improves first-paint startup, restored tabs, idle memory collection, renderer OTA application, and completion-sound choices. Missing user folders no longer crash the main process. (#19429, [#19481], [#19497], [#19509], [#19480], [#19598])
  • Agent-share visitor attachments gain scoped storage limits and isolation; shared Topic errors become safer and traceable. Availability follows the distribution's Agent-sharing surface. (#19569, [#19649], [#19560])

🖥️ CLI & User Experience

  • Stopping an accepted reply preserves the current composer draft; only an unaccepted cancelled send restores its snapshot. Question submissions receive immediate optimistic feedback. (#19674, [#19681])
  • Terminal Task runs can be stopped or deleted, device settings give the detail pane more room, and workflow folds measure their own elapsed wall-clock time. (#19688, [#19680], [#19702])

  • lh doctor supports offline diagnostics, JSON output, and opt-in deep checks; costly checks are not enabled by default. (#19626)

  • HTML publishing can copy outside-Workspace assets into the Workspace, and the CLI prints the Artifact share URL after publishing. (#19447, [#19536])
  • Document comments retain the selected excerpt, align beside their source, and keep the line-comment marker inside the editor column. Pasted document images are rehosted. (#19602, [#19659], [#19664], [#19527])
  • Task URLs gain readable slugs; Artifact previews stay in the run drawer; resource galleries refresh after document deletion. (#19503, [#19641], [#19647])
  • Acceptance adds a pinned list rail, multi-select, and optional evidence-file deletion. (#19559, [#19529])
  • Navigation restores sidebar scroll position, virtualizes long branch lists, and shows full upload errors in file tooltips. (#19441, [#19492], [#19453])

🔧 Tooling

  • OpenAPI exposes Evaluation resources and the external run lifecycle for integration tooling. (#19428)
  • Provider-native stream diagnostics and router-affinity hooks improve deployment troubleshooting. (#19643, [#19648])
  • Search indexing skips ineligible messages with versioned capture, and capture-trigger upgrades reduce lock contention. (#19537, [#19570])
  • Source tooling moves to pnpm 12.4.1 and actions/checkout v7. (#19437, [#19656])

🔒 Security & Reliability

  • JSON device-Gateway dispatch errors are recognized, and Agent message errors and structured IM replies are normalized. Rate-limit handoff coordinates cancellation with scheduled dispatch to prevent duplicate continuation. (#19692, [#19676], [#19080])

  • Credential protection: Bot credentials are masked server-side; Compose generates deployment-specific signing keys and gives Gateway only the public key. (#19452, [#19583])

  • Discussion access: Public Acceptance visitors cannot impersonate Workspace Agents; private Workspace viewers remain read-only, with moderation and rate limits for public comments. (#19448)
  • Run recovery: Garbled tool names are recovered, large tool errors are bounded, and sandbox spawn timeouts no longer immediately kill live or completed runs. (#19362, [#19496], [#19443])
  • Accurate completion: Discarded heterogeneous output cannot settle as success; Desktop cancellation is confirmed even when its local Task record is missing. (#19658, [#19603])
  • File and tool handling: Device file operations avoid false outside-Workspace refusals, archived tool results are deduplicated, and knowledge reads are paginated. (#16962, [#19665])

🧪 Release Validation & Known Gaps

This PR packages existing canary changes and adds no release-specific code. Main ancestry is restored by the preceding synchronization PR; the candidate is based on the synchronized canary. Git ancestry and release-note references are checked locally. Product tests, lint, and type-check were not rerun solely to prepare this release.

Existing upstream evidence is linked for traceability; these links do not establish full release-wide coverage:

Additional limitations: lh doctor cannot report an unsupported Node runtime if module loading fails before the command starts; the Compose setup short-link redirect to main remains an external follow-up in the upstream PR. Full migration/rollback verification is not claimed.
