Slackware 14.2/current and Debian9/10 Live CD/USB with ability to be remastered into your own flavor, persistent, ability to boot to ram, operates basically as Slax.
These "flavors" of Slackware and Debian can boot off CD, DVD, USB, and Hard drive with persistence, toram, and can be on any fat32/ntfs or ext2/3/4 formatted filesystems. You can install frugally to hard drive or do a full install as a normal linux install.
Using the Live scripts found in /root you can make your distro any way you want with only the apps you want.
Also here you'll find MultiDistro Live DVD/USB which includes all 3 of my flavors (Slacker/Stretch/Buster) plus great linux utilities like Clonezilla Live, System Rescue CD, NetBootCD, Plop bootmanager and others including Puppy, Slax, Debian Live.
The newest Slacker features 2 live kernels 4.4.172l Generic and the Xanmod 4.19.29-xanmod15 low-latency kernel- you can choose either at bootup.

Download is just around 700 Mb, comes with LXDE desktop. and basic features. Installed in Windoz easily with RUFUS to a 2 GB USB memory. Boot menu options are somewhat confusing , and it was missing "INSTALL TO HARD DRIVE". Managed to boot into a "LIVE" system, needed to run "CENI" to get wired ethernet to connect. I liked it and I was ready to install systemk permanently to a hard drive........however, no any link to "INSTALL TO HARD DRIVE".Developer should consider adding this option, to make this release more useful.
