  • I accidentally found out about STAR. I put it on trial. As a result, it remained on the laptop. After Arch-based distributions, STAR is both nostalgic and fun. Thanks for the work.
  • Jun.22: Best distribution ever. Have been using this for years as a basis for a DIY console-as-much-as-possible system using i3. I prefer the amd 64 netinst image. No schnickschnack, just works. Damned fast and stable. Five stars. Thanks so much for your efforts. Jun.23: 1 year later still no netinst. So sad. One of five stars gone.
  • Nice packaging of devuan beowulf and the installer is pretty sophisticated. Main trouble is getting help, so had to knock a star off of Star Linux. :(
  • An exemplary distribution, simple and yet very dependably strong. Low resource consumption. Running Star Xfce & Star Openbox, one on my desktop, and the other on my laptop! Learned of Star on DistroWatch and had put off running a test install to see how well it performed, it did exceptionally well indeed. Keep up the excellent work and thank you!
  • Nice grey theme for image processing and great stability of work

Danke!
  • Installation FAILS from USB disk (used Rufus to create bootable drive out of the .iso) as it is looking for a CDROM which does not make sense. Live works OK. There is NO community FORUM or the link to it !!!
  • STAR is undoubtedly one of the most finely tuned distributions within the Debian/Devuan world, minimalism and overall stability is the essence of STAR. Although there are a few choice applications to compliment and assist the potential user, under the hood configuration has so much more to offer which also presents a very small memory foot print coupled with resource management. STAR is and has always been a go to distribution for those who simply require stability on a paramount level. Has been mine as a daily driver for over 4 years. Nuff said!
  • Nice distro! Also - and some people may miss - a very informative 'readme' file, which gives a lot of food-for-thought for my own future project[s]. Thanks vm for a good experience...
  • Happy to have tried out this distro, or OS. Downloaded and install i3 and using STAR on my Toshiba Portege. Learning tiling window is a little different and enjoy the keyboard aspects. Very fast, and just totally rocks, brother! Mucho gracious mi camarada for making such a fine OS. Very much like dark themes and yours is one of the best OTB. Rate you high because very pleased!
  • a devuan with "light" desktop (mostly windown managers not more), bt 32bit does work slower in asus eepc and hp P4 based cpu... nice work, but nothig new featured, nothing more than preinstalled desktops that in normal install takes only 30 minutes.. the theme are so dark does not proper to large hours working due the very high contras
  • It's a nice system for doing things on your own. One thing that bugged me was the naming. I thought "star-morbius-1.0-fb-64-2017APR15.iso" meant Framebuffer instead of fluxbox, which is the most downloaded variation at the time of writing. Please consider changing that naming scheme.
  • DIY its really good live-build development environment but i want to kwow how build a iso whit mate desktop and add other apps.its posible?

  • vb.net pdf viewer for winforms is what you are trying to do is impossible, what you could try to do is show vb.net pdf reader for micromax online was that what you were trying?, if so, try something like this page:rasteredge
  • Great project! Kudos to the team.....I've been using Debian since "potato" and left with the onset of the GNOME 3 business; now I'm coming back. I'm using JWM and will slowly and thoughtfully add sources and apps to the build. This is a great thing I've done similarly where you delete the wm and de, get a basic "empty" shell, and rebuild, but it's sometimes difficult because of deps and whatnot; you've made this simple. Not necessarily for the beginner, but they'll eventually find their way - we all do. Thanks again - any chance we'll be seeing any docs soon? Cheers!

  • Tried the openbox-version. Very nice. This image works well as both a minimal starting point for your own choices, or as a full-featured distro (if you install the app-selections you are offered from the welcome script). The contrib and non-free repos aren't enabled by default, so if you need that support for your hardware, just enable it in the sources.list. Also, it's based on Devuan and comes without Systemd. Refreshing. Everything works just fine, easy to install, easy to set up, and no issues at all for me. Love it.
