Description

Here is some information, about what I have done to original Bodhi 1.3.0 before making distribution disk from it. I wanted to make similar distribution like Bodhi, so made it on top of it, but added some software, which allows to do some basic tasks and a bit more. I have not included all E17 themes or Icons packages, because what the point of it. Also here are no packages for printing and scanning, because they simply did not worked with my new hardware, but I have included Bluetooth software. I have chosen light approach at some corners, for example did not installed adobe reader, but used instead of it Envision, it was made this way, because in most cases I need only to read .pdf file, not to edit or copy from it. Light-office was chosen instead of LibreOffice, because there are still some comp-ability issues with MS Office, and simple editors will by enough for basic tasks, also we can use online Live office in case of need.

Leafy Linux is a nice respin of the uber-light-weight E17-based distro Bodhi Linux 1.3.0 and it is easily upgradeable to the latest 1.x.x once it is installed. If you are new to Bodhi, there is a whole family of desktop Profiles that one can choose whilst setting up, so you are not restricted in desktop configuration. You can then roll your own Profiles, or mix and match from the many elegant Themes available, or recreate the whole thing from scratch. Leafy illustrates this process with a dramatic personal approach that is skillfully executed. Leafy also has a useful collection of additional software that is listed by Vaidotas - so no need to repeat the list here. I found the clearly commented Conky-with-Lua-bling particularly interesting to dissect and modify for fun, and easy to follow. Everything we tried worked, but we don't have (eg) Bluetooth hardware (to test Blueman) or a webcam on the machine used - so it was not an exhaustive test. If you're interested in Bodhi and like the idea of trying an expertly-configured example, then this is well worth the effort - and it might well form the basis of your own ideal installation or the inspiration to do your own Bodhi thing from scratch. Either way, our thanks to Vaidotas! Ben
