What's fixed
A second elevation source now takes over where the first has nothing. A region wholly outside FABDEM or GEDTM30, such as Franz Josef Land, stopped with "no elevation tiles" instead of moving on to Copernicus.
- Open-sea cells are no longer requested, so a rebuild from the cache works offline.
- GEDTM30 asks its server far less on estimates and rebuilds.
- GeoTIFF files whose last strip is short are read instead of refused.
- Road repair checks for drops on the same elevation the map uses, and waits for it on a first build, so a first build and a rebuild join the same road ends.
- Saving an SRTM or ALOS login keeps the rest of pyhgtmap's settings file, comments included.
- The mkgmap patch handles shapes with very long edges better; it rebuilds itself on the next start.
Upgrading
Install over the top. On Debian and Ubuntu sudo apt install ./kmap_1.7.1_<arch>.deb; on
other Linux unpack the archive and put kmap on your PATH; on Windows run the installer;
on macOS replace the app. Profiles, styles and cached downloads stay put.
Which file
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows | kmap-1.7.1.exe - one installer, whatever the machine |
| macOS | kmap-1.7.1.dmg - one image, whatever the Mac |
| Debian, Ubuntu | kmap_1.7.1_amd64.deb for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.7.1_arm64.deb for 64-bit ARM |
| Other Linux | kmap_1.7.1_linux_x86_64.tar.xz for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.7.1_linux_aarch64.tar.xz for 64-bit ARM |
Windows 10 1803 or later, macOS 13 or later, Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 or later, any other
Linux with glibc 2.17 or later. dpkg --print-architecture or uname -m prints the word
you need.
First run
Nothing here is code-signed, so the first launch takes one extra click. On Windows: More info, then Run anyway. On macOS: right-click kmap and choose Open; from macOS 15, System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway.
