What's new
Splitting and road repair are much faster. Cutting an extract into tiles takes about 40% less time and repairing road ends about 55% less on a machine with several cores, and the files they write are the same, byte for byte.
What's fixed
- An elevation login whose password holds a
#, a;or quotes is now saved so that pyhgtmap reads it back exactly, and the file holding it is readable by its owner only from the moment it is written. - mkgmap and its source are installed only with the checksums kmap knows: a file that does not match is refused before it is unpacked.
Upgrading
Install over the top. On Debian and Ubuntu sudo apt install ./kmap_1.6.3_<arch>.deb; on
other Linux unpack the archive and put kmap on your PATH; on Windows run the installer;
on macOS replace the app. Profiles, styles and cached downloads stay put.
Which file
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows | kmap-1.6.3.exe - one installer, whatever the machine |
| macOS | kmap-1.6.3.dmg - one image, whatever the Mac |
| Debian, Ubuntu | kmap_1.6.3_amd64.deb for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.6.3_arm64.deb for 64-bit ARM |
| Other Linux | kmap_1.6.3_linux_x86_64.tar.xz for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.6.3_linux_aarch64.tar.xz for 64-bit ARM |
Windows 10 1803 or later, macOS 13 or later, Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 or later, any other
Linux with glibc 2.17 or later. dpkg --print-architecture or uname -m prints the word
you need.
First run
Nothing here is code-signed, so the first launch takes one extra click. On Windows: More info, then Run anyway. On macOS: right-click kmap and choose Open; from macOS 15, System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway.
checksums.txt carries a SHA-256 for every file above.
