What's fixed
Windows on Intel and AMD no longer crashes while looking for an extract. When a mirror did not serve -latest and kmap asked for the dated files instead, the 64-bit x86 build stopped without a word: a fault in how Swift compiles that code for x86-64 Windows. kmap now asks in a way that avoids it, and 3 other places that pass results the same way were changed too.
What's new
- On x86-64 processors with AVX2, reading OSM data and converting elevation use AVX2.
Upgrading
Install over the top. On Debian and Ubuntu sudo apt install ./kmap_1.6.2_<arch>.deb; on
other Linux unpack the archive and put kmap on your PATH; on Windows run the installer;
on macOS replace the app. Profiles, styles and cached downloads stay put.
Which file
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows | kmap-1.6.2.exe - one installer, whatever the machine |
| macOS | kmap-1.6.2.dmg - one image, whatever the Mac |
| Debian, Ubuntu | kmap_1.6.2_amd64.deb for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.6.2_arm64.deb for 64-bit ARM |
| Other Linux | kmap_1.6.2_linux_x86_64.tar.xz for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.6.2_linux_aarch64.tar.xz for 64-bit ARM |
Windows 10 1803 or later, macOS 13 or later, Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 or later, any other
Linux with glibc 2.17 or later. dpkg --print-architecture or uname -m prints the word
you need.
First run
Nothing here is code-signed, so the first launch takes one extra click. On Windows: More info, then Run anyway. On macOS: right-click kmap and choose Open; from macOS 15, System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway.
