What's fixed
Builds work while Geofabrik's -latest files are down. kmap takes the newest dated extract the mirror still serves, checks its checksum and says so in the log.
- A cached extract is kept until the new one has arrived whole and verified, so a failed download still leaves something to build from. A large region needs room for both meanwhile.
- A hanging mirror costs seconds, not minutes.
--dem=noand other switches given a value are refused; they used to switch the option on.
Upgrading
Install over the top. On Debian and Ubuntu sudo apt install ./kmap_1.4.3_<arch>.deb; on
other Linux unpack the archive and put kmap on your PATH; on Windows run the installer;
on macOS replace the app. Profiles, styles and cached downloads stay put.
Which file
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows | kmap-1.4.3.exe - one installer, whatever the machine |
| macOS | kmap-1.4.3.dmg - one image, whatever the Mac |
| Debian, Ubuntu | kmap_1.4.3_amd64.deb for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.4.3_arm64.deb for 64-bit ARM |
| Other Linux | kmap_1.4.3_linux_x86_64.tar.xz for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.4.3_linux_aarch64.tar.xz for 64-bit ARM |
Windows 10 1803 or later, macOS 13 or later, Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 or later, any other
Linux with glibc 2.17 or later. dpkg --print-architecture or uname -m prints the word
you need.
First run
Nothing here is code-signed, so the first launch takes one extra click. On Windows: More info, then Run anyway. On macOS: right-click kmap and choose Open; from macOS 15, System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway.
checksums.txt carries a SHA-256 for every file above.
