What's new

Summits read right on the device. A summit's cell in the DEM sits below the summit, so kmap lifts it to the height OSM gives it. It now lifts the ring around it as well: a device reads a height by interpolating the grid nearby, and the reading no longer depends on where the grid happens to fall. New --summits / --no-summits and a row in the build form; on with the DEM layer.

A map says which regions it holds. Every map used to be listed as built using kmap above a count of regions. Now the title, the family name and the file name all carry the regions themselves. Names differ from 1.1.1, so a new build lands beside an old one on a card instead of replacing it.

Upgrading

Install over the top. On Linux sudo apt install ./kmap_1.2.0_<arch>.deb; on Windows run the installer; on macOS replace the app. Profiles, styles and cached downloads stay put.

Which file

System File
Windows kmap-1.2.0.exe - one installer, whatever the machine
macOS kmap-1.2.0.dmg - one image, whatever the Mac
Linux kmap_1.2.0_amd64.deb for 64-bit x86, kmap_1.2.0_arm64.deb for 64-bit ARM

Windows 10 1803 or later, macOS 13 or later, Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 or later. dpkg --print-architecture prints the word you need.

First run

Nothing here is code-signed, so the first launch takes one extra click. On Windows: More info, then Run anyway. On macOS: right-click kmap and choose Open; from macOS 15, System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway.

checksums.txt carries a SHA-256 for every file above.
