Kiwix is an offline reader for Web content. It's especially intended to make Wikipedia available offline.
With Kiwix, you can enjoy Wikipedia on a boat, in the middle of nowhere... or in Jail.
Kiwix manages to do that by reading ZIM files, a highly compressed open format with additional meta-data.
- Pure ZIM file reader
- Case and diacritics insensitive full text search engine
- Bookmarks & Notes
- ZIM based HTTP server
- PDF/HTML export
- Localized in more than 110 languages
- Search suggestions
- Tabs navigation
- Integrated content manager/downloader
- Available for Windows/OSX/Linux/Android/iOS

great to be able to have an offline encyclopedia in your palm :)
Wikipedia is a unique and extremely valuable project on it's own right. However, Kiwix improves Wikipedia by making it accessible even without Internet connectivity. This brings the knowledge of Wikipedia to millions of people who are not online because the live in less developed countries, can not afford the cost, or are disconnected from the Internet by circumstances like natural desasters or war.
Very easy to use and what i like the most is the simple approach 1 offline website - 1 file. Everything is store in 1 .zim file, and the program can create an index (word database) of that file which make the search very easy. It will display all pages which contain the desired word. The downside is that Kiwix is not supporting multimedia files. Maybe that will change in the future.
A very active soln for biggest problem...offline any thing..thanks dev...
