Pre-alpha of the 0.4.1 line. Read-only shares, preserved file times, and a folder that connects itself.

The peer protocol is unchanged from 0.4.0, so 0.4.0 and 0.4.1 peers still connect to each other. Devices on 0.3.6 or older need updating.

New. All of these are off by default and turned on in the config file.

  • Read-only shares. Let someone read your files and change nothing. The machine holding the files refuses every write, delete, rename and attribute change arriving from the peer, so the guarantee sits on your side of the connection. The reading side can also mount read only, which makes a write attempt fail immediately instead of appearing to work.
  • File times and permissions preserved. A received file keeps the origin's permission bits, modification time and access time. On a read-only share, serving a read leaves the access times on your originals untouched.
  • Connect on startup. Save a contact and KeibiDrop connects to it when it starts, retrying while that peer is offline.
  • Share a folder that already has files in it. Announce what is already in your save folder when a session starts, instead of adding each file by hand.

Relay credit.

  • Prepaid packs buy priority relay bandwidth for the times peers cannot reach each other directly: 250 GiB for EUR 5, 1024 GiB for EUR 20. You get a code and the code holds the credit, so there is no account, no subscription and no expiry. Direct and local-network transfers stay free.

Fixed.

  • Editing a file inside a git repository on the mount left hidden files behind on macOS, and could drop a deletion so that a removed file reappeared.
  • Relay rooms closed early instead of holding for ten minutes, which broke reconnects. This appeared when prepaid credit was added.

Still a pre-alpha. Multi-user support is not in this line, and the protocol may change again before 0.4 goes stable. The stable release will be v0.4.2.
