First public release. Peer-to-peer encrypted file sharing across Linux, macOS, and Windows.

What's in this release

  • End-to-end encrypted transfer (AES-256-GCM / ChaCha20-Poly1305, auto-negotiated based on hardware)
  • Two modes: FUSE virtual filesystem (files appear as a shared folder) and no-FUSE (AddFile/PullFile API)
  • Real-time synchronous file sync between peers
  • Ephemeral identity: one-time fingerprint exchange, no accounts, no registration
  • Desktop UI (Rust/Slint) and non-interactive CLI (kd) for scripting and AI agents
  • Bridge relay for peers behind firewalls (STUN-like, both peers connect outbound)
  • LAN auto-discovery via mDNS
  • Works on Linux, macOS, and Windows (WinFSP)
  • PostgreSQL and git repositories verified working on FUSE mounts
  • Download resumption with chunk bitmap tracking
  • Connection resilience with automatic reconnect and key rotation

Performance (loopback, Intel i7-9750H)

  • Encrypted channel: 1.7 GB/s
  • File transfer (no FUSE): 585 MB/s at 1 GB
  • Round-trip through FUSE: 276 MB/s at 1 GB
  • FUSE write: 1.1 GB/s at 1 GB

Known limitations

  • Symlinks and hardlinks not supported (by design, for P2P security)
  • Cross-peer git commit sync has a notification timing issue being fixed next sprint
  • fstest POSIX compliance: 75.8% (excluding symlink/hardlink tests)
