Reported Results For Non Target Systems
Devuanpup
ISO : devuanpup64_beta4-9.7.0.iso
Package : jwmkit-fossa-20210830.pet
Results : Works well. You will want to change a couple of things in JWM Kit's default JWM Config needs using JWM Kit's tools.
Uninstall : Work fine.
NOTES : If you have issue read the Readme file in the puppy directory
Miyo
ISO : Miyo-JWM-x86_64_BIOS-20200123.iso
Package : jwmkit-0~20210907.deb
ISO : Miyo-JWM-i686_PAE-20200122
Package : jwmkit-0~20210827.deb
Results : Works well. Couple of things in JWM Kit's default JWM Config needs altered using JWM Kit's tools.
ISSUE : dmenu_run and the "miyo-tools" do not include freedesktop .desktop files. This prevents them from appearing in autogenerated menu. If you need these items you will either need to manually add them to the menu using JWM Kit Menus, or use JWM Kit Freedesktops to create the missing .desktop files. The later being a more robust solution.
Uninstall : Does not revert to the Miyo's Default JWM Config
Advice : Backup ~/.jwmrc before installing. Restore on uninstall.
Advice : Configure JWM KIt's Logout's permission setting to elogind
Notice : These reports were combined due to similarity.
Mint
ISO : linuxmint-20.2-xfce-64bit.iso
Package : jwmkit-0~20210827.deb
Results : works well
Advice : Need icons paths added with jwmkit_icons
Advice : Configure JWM KIt's Logout's permission setting to nosu
Most common issues on Non Target system and possible solutions
Icons or apps used in the default config may not be avalible on the system
- Use JWM Kit to remove items from the config
- Use JWM Kit to configure missing icons
- Add the missing items to the system
jwmkit_logout Power off and Reboot:
- jwmkit_logout must be properly configured to match the systems.
- the system may need configured to give the user permission to use power off and reboot.
Puppy linux uses many non-standard categories in their freedesktop files. If JWM Kit does not reconize a category it will just dump the app in the Others category.
- Edit the apps .desktop file in /usr/share/applications and modify the categories= line to use a more standard category like: Utility, AudioVideo, Game, Graphics, Network, Office, Settings, or System
Uninstall does not restore previous JWM Configuration.
- This is only relevent when a previous JWM configuration was available
- Back up Your JWM Configuration before installing JWM Kit.
- I hate to say it, but . . . This is a backup issue and is consider to be the users responsiblity
