  • Very encouraging... I just dusted off my ancient Yamaha DX21 and checked SourceForge for a basic patch librarian/editor that might have a hope of working with this old beast. I quickly found JSynthLib and it sounded like just what I was after. But, I was skeptical whether it would support my synth, and whether it would really work at all... I've tried a few of these things in the past with little/no luck. I see some other reviews with problems installing/launching. I'm not sure what the issues were in those cases. I have had no problems running it on a Windows 10/PRO, 64-bit system with current Java, etc. After installation, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that my synth was listed among those that were supported. I was able to download patches, edit them on my desktop, group them into libraries or scenes in various ways, and bulk upload them. In general, all the things I was hoping to be able to do. The interface is very clean, allows for a reasonable amount of comments and descriptive details to identify your work, and generally works smoothly and with little to no learning curve. There are a couple of minor glitches I noticed here and there, but nothing that prevents me from using the tool.. Anyway, this is a nice tool and a great effort by the developer. I will get good use out of it. I should probably see about making a donation. Thanks for the great work!

  • Been using jsynthlib on OSX to edit the Yamaha TX802 and TX81Z. Awesome, super easy to use. Cons - No bank editing on the TX81Z. Pros - Cross Breed (random) Patch generation. So good!
