5.6.0 ======================== - extended attachment support - some convenience methods - some beautifying - some updates to the example code - switch to Java 7 - do not create unnecessary appearances - make date entry configurable - some optimizations provided by SWatson at Studentloan.org - accept "cm" operator in TextObject - fix COS equals - add Iterable where suitable - add an option to disable automatic updates of date and file ID - fix range check for COSInteger - fix concurrency issues in revision reading - fix recursion for ASCIIHEX - fix for glyphname lookup - fix string length check - fix NPE in annotation tools - fix tiling patterns streams - fix FDF parsing 5.5.1 ======================== Another Ooops. The dependency to jBig was broken, as reported by tuxatwork 5.5.0 ======================== Ooops - seems we missed publishing a version... - switch service provider framework - CreateAttachment example - DrawTextExample with encoding - form handling fixes - CSTextExtractor handle invalid chars - primitives for PDF collections (PDCollection) - COSString (PDF String) line delimiter handling - add some defensive code for still more real world PDF's - fix JBIG2 integration with new JBIG2 version - some more constants - more sophisticated button value handling - more sophisticated error check on xref streams 5.3.0 ======================== - fix color space optimization - font name for embedded fonts - font lookup - outline expand / collapse - /ToUnicode string mappings - interface for device feature declaration (enables performance shortcuts) - postscript conditional expressions - minor fixes and performance checks 5.2.0 ======================== jPod: - fix matrix bugs - change shape transformation handling - "quick hack" fix for text extraction, introduce device transformation, but not used overall yet handles extraction from rotated pages now - changed inline image handling, added support for just another strange end of image marker - extended color space handling (error handling, default spaces, PDF/A support) - COS level performance refactorings (size&speed) - COS document revisions - COS encryption review & improvements - Font encoding extensions & fixes (multibyte ToUnicode maps STILL not supported) - still another fax encoding fix - PNG prediction - some more real world document parser issues - COS model multithreading issues - PDPage sequences did notwork in all circumstances - sampled functions - improved shading & patterns - lots of minor extensions, improvements and fixes Runtime: - More tools 5.1.0 ======================== There has never been an official release for this version - just too much work in our projects... 5.0.0 RC 3 ======================== - Refactorings, fixes and features with font / glyph / encoding handling. - PDDocument exception handling upon creation - concurrency issue with COSWriter 5.0.0 RC 2 ======================== A word upfront: This is a major release. While we tried our best, we can not guarantee for the compatibility of all API's. Where we had design flaws or missing features, we always opted for the best solution. - lot of typos :-) - some minor standard bugs (NPE and the like) - 2 or 3 methods have undergone "standardization" with regard to their return type - added annotation API - improved appearance creation - reworked PDF content handling framework (with regard to the jPodRenderer release) - add text content handling (extraction and searching) - reworked save state creation - COSBases setters return previuos value - transparent object swapping (!). COSObjects no longer needed may be transparently garbage collected. - complete rework of the "crypt" component. Added examples for encrypting and decrypting. - COSStream filter API extensions - COSName UTF 8 support - COSString user defined encoding support - improved character mapping - fixed multibyte codepoint handling (CMap, CID, Type0 fonts). There is still some work to be done to handle creation and we are looking forward for a full featured multibyte enabled release soon. - added JBIG2 filter (using jBig2 from jPedal) - some more real world document interpretation of the spec found and supported - return index position with parser error - ...and i bet some others i forgot to mention 4.3.1 ======================== - fix concurrency issues on IRandomAccess - XRef no longer handled recursive - fix page rotation (property inheritance) - improve real world outline node detection - improve decision for forcing incremental write - signature handling in AcroForm - defend parsre against strange real world documents - PDFontTools refactoring and additional methods - PDFont performance review, TT embedding - fix real world problem with inconsistent stream length - fix stream filter exception handling - simplified PD resource handling - fix bounding box computation - interpret extended graphics state - defend against (unexpected) null objects - CSContentStream name change - name tree iteration fixed - central switch for PDF action processor - some additional examples - TTFont refactoring, no longer read completely to memory (IRandomAccess based) - read only support for ILocator - prevent file from being created on read/write check - fixing some minor bugs in basic libraries; 4.3.0 ======================== initial open source release
