User Reviews

  • The best VirTual organ software available at any price (and it's free!) for those adventurous enough to create their own instruments. With the variety of dispositions and soundfonts now available, you can get started without a lot of jOrgan programming knowledge. There are both classical and theater dispositions/soundfonts available, but the heavy leaning in the jOrgan community seems to be towards the classical. With improvements in Fluidsynth in current releases, sound quality can be on a par with Hauptwerk, all depending on what sample sets you use. Absolutely everything can be customized, but there is a price to pay in that the learning curve is steeper than some commercially available software/sample sets. The possibility for tinkering is endless, and I have created many features not normally available in jOrgan just by using its elements as building blocks. I'm a 100% Theater Organ guy with a 3 manual 23 rank, 7 tuned percussion disposition and soundfont all custom created, controlled by an actual vintage theater organ horseshoe console. I created my custom disposition using jOrgan and my soundfonts using Viena and ZeroX Looper. I have just about every feature available from a moveable capture combination action to Crescendo indicators, toe stud sound effects, harmonic couplers, Pizzicato Touch and even an Arduino-driven programmable rhythm unit. jOrgan and Viena can create it all and jOrgan can play it all without breaking a sweat or bogging down my CPU. I have an intel i7 @2.8 gig and 16 gig RAM, but don't need it. Absolute max CPU utilization is around 20% with all bells and whistles in use. In all fairness, a large straight classical instrument would be playing more samples and require more RAM at a given time than a unified theater instrument, but the CPU load and memory utilization is proportionally low. I customize EVERYTHING, so jOrgan is my logical choice in organ software. I have Hauptwerk and a couple of theater organ sample sets sitting on a shelf somewhere, but never use them. jOrgan is hands down my main (and only) axe! I rate Ease as " Just OK" because hard core customization is not for the faint of heart. For support you have to rely on forums, although they are quite responsive and very knowledgeable and there are now some excellent tutorials available. The benefit of the extra effort involved is that you don't have anyone telling you what stops and features your instrument has to have.
  • Great Software
  • jOrgan is a great Virtual Pipe Organ software. I’am using it on a Raspberry Pi (3B+) with a HiFiBerry soundcard. It runs with low latency and I never think that my old Keyboard get such a great organ sound. Thank you!
  • Excellent software, easily competitive with any proprietary software for virtual pipe organs. Learning curve is a little steep at first but is quite intuitive once you understand the system.
  • Excellent virtual organ software with low hardware requirements. Could be driven by MIDI messages or keyboard shortcuts, easy GUI and many elements to use, equipped with MIDI recorder, temperament change, memory, Fluidsynth synthesizer, couplers, reverb and many many more... You can download organ dispositions for free, easily edit them or create own ones. Good user community, many dispositions with superb sound including tracker and environment noise. Thank you for development.
