Puggle
A desktop search engine
Puggle is a graphical desktop search engine written exclusively in Java. It provides full text and metadata search over files, folders, music, photos, web pages and more that are stored locally on your computer.
Packager's notes: Unlike the Haiku query system, Puggle works on the names and contents of files, not on their metadata. Once a scan has been performed, it is lightning-fast.
When you install Puggle, first go to Preferences in the Deskbar and run the Puggle Indexer. Select your preferred options, then do a full scan. This can take a while, but subsequent scans will be much faster.
You can now run the Puggle app from the Desktop applets menu on the Deskbar.
You can also run Puggle from the command line. The command
puggle searchtext
will give you all files containing searchtext . If you do not supply a parameter, CLI Puggle will go interactive and ask for one .
Requires: The latest Java runtime from the official Haiku repositories. At the time of writing, installing openjdk21_default will see you through.
