Jamulus OS is a modified ubuntustudio version with Jamulus software preinstalled. It lets you jam online with distant musicians in real time. It has client and server support out of the box (with GUI and without GUI as a service).

You can use any iso writer to create a USB stick with Jamulus 0S. If you planned to make change to the OS (settings, adding software ...), you can create a persistent live usb stick using Rufus (Windows) or mkusb (Linux).

If your hardware is old but you have a sound card with lowlatency capability or experienced problem with your actual OS and don't want to modify your hard drive then you should give it a try.

For example, I setup a 2009 PC with Jamulus OS and used a recent sound card like Zoom U22 and an old one UCA202 Berhinger ... Sometimes the internal hardware of your computer is enough for using with Jamulus ! Every USB class compliant sound card should work with Jamulus OS.

User Reviews

  • Quite easy to run and worth a try. Instructions are a bit short sometimes (like how big persistence you make in Rufus?), youtube tutorial is already better. Compatibility ok, runs not as fast as I hope though. (but on a 10 year old pentium dualcore and USB2.....). would it be faster without GUI?
