JAME is an application for creating fractals. JAME is quite old and it hasn't been updated for long time. JAME has been replaced by NextFractal, which is actively maintained (see https://github.com/nextbreakpoint/nextfractal).

Sorry to hear you had troubles. The project is hosted on GitHub, therefore you could open a bug there (https://github.com/medeghini/JAME). I guess that you downloaded the wrong distribution, actually I think you downloaded the source code. The official binaries are in GitHub, and they should have been copied to SourceForge but something didn't work. I suggest to look at the releases on GitHub instead. -
