Open Source CSV Software

jdbc2csv is a small command-line tool written in JAVA and can be used on all platforms, for which JRE 8 or higher is available. To connect to a specific DBMS the tool uses its JDBC driver. The result of the executed 'select' query is displayed in CSV format ( different standards are supported ). When there is an error the tool stops with exit code 1 and the error message is output on stderr. jdbc2csv is created with a main purpose to be used in shell-scripts. Relatively easy to configurate, this tool is suitable for queries ‘select’, ‘update’ and ‘delete’. I think that is not suitable for a large number of requests, like 'insert'.

vcf2csv is a command line tool, written in ANSI-C (C90), converts a vcard (vcf) file to csv. Please note: the ability to generate HTML-files will be removed in the near future.

CSV Comparator is a tool for comparing files which contain CSV-Data. It was created for performance engineers to be able to have a easy way to compare data from two testruns and be able to automate the comparing process of various files with scripts. There is a command line tool as well as a user interface. In case you need to compare .xml-Files you can convert them to .csv-Files with my other project CSV Transformer. The advantages by using CSV as input and output are the following: - Many applications allow an export of its data to CSV or Excel(were it could be saved to CSV) - It is possible to pre- and postprocess the data, e.g removing version numbers before comparing - It is easy to create CSV data from logfiles and other resources by using unix tools like sed or awk - CSV can be loaded into other applications, especially Excel, were it can be formatted by macros for analyzing.

csv2odf can create business intelligence reports from csv data sources with output to ods, odt, html, xlsx, or docx documents. It uses a template file that you design to control the layout, fonts, and colors. Just query your database with output to csv (or tsv), then use csv2odf to insert the data into your template to produce a nice looking formatted output. It is a command line tool and you can automate the generation of reports by using scripts and cron. It can be used to create spreadsheets and documents for LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Microsoft Office Excel and Word. It is open source GPL v3 and crossplatform, it can run on most operating systems that can run Python (Python is required). More details, example files, and online manual at http://csv2odf.sf.net.

The name has changed: that project has become the Airline Travel Solution Provider, AirTSP for short.

Map CSV records to Java Objects and back again (a la hibernate).

A simple callback-based parser for tabular data encoded as CSV (Comma Separated Values), written in Objective-C. Slightly heavy-weight as it was meant to not take short-cuts as a full push-down automaton state machine parser. This was initially an experiment in how to build such parsers.

JFling provides tools for (un)marshalling fixed length string data to and from java objects with typed properties. It's codegenerator uses plain csv files to generate fixed-length-string wrapper classes. (see our wiki 'Hosted Apps/Trac' for more info)

Omni is a Java package for reading and writing a variety of data file formats. Currently, Omni supports formats such as CSV, tab-delimited, pipe-delimited, and fixed-width files. There are future plans for more formats.

Super CSV is a fast, programmer-friendly, open-source library for reading and writing CSV files with Java. PLEASE NOTE: As of January 2015 we have now moved to GitHub (https://github.com/super-csv/super-csv). This SourceForge page will remain, but with limited functionality (please go to GitHub to report issues and for project downloads). It is highly configurable, and supports reading and writing with POJOs, Maps and Lists. It also has support for deep-mapping and index-based mapping with POJOs, using the powerful Dozer extension. Its flexible 'Cell Processor' API automates data type conversions (parsing and formatting Dates, Integers, Booleans etc) and enforces constraints (mandatory columns, matching against regular expressions etc) - and it's easy to write your own if required. This projects has the intent to take any file that has a header and any number of lines, take out the blank lines, the carriage return and the line feed, given as delimitation the "project number" format and generates a new clean file.

This software allows for a user to generate test data. This is useful for testing Hadoop or other data processing clusters.
