I have stitched over 1,000 sphericals with Hugin despite also having a commercial package. Up to the 2012 version Hugin was just the easier and more user friendly version compared to other packages. Hugin is still my preferred package but I cannot recommend the 2013 version because the user interface is no longer as intuitive as it was and the introduction of pop-up windows or dialogue boxes to change parameters just adds so many more mouse clicks to the process.
User has to set tons of control points. That's the job of a decent program. Control points can't be set very accurately. Colors or lighting are not matched with nona stitcher, PTStitcher is not working. If this was all opensource had to offer, I'd not have chosen linux.
Windows 10/64 bits : no problem installing and did not crash on my configuration (version 2018.0.0.5abfb4de7961 built by Thomas / W10 Enterprise v1703/15063.877, 12GB, i5-6300HQ). Very easy to use. Did not produce a result very satisfying WITH THE SAMPLE PHOTOS I HAD TO MY DISPOSAL, which where not really taken to create a panorama. So I guess it's my fault. Easy to install, easy to run, easy to create a resulting image and good step by step explanations (I am totally a dumb regarding to create panorama images and even taking good regular pictures, that's why I need a program that "thinks" for me). Worth give it a deeper try for what I need to do now : creating landscape panoramas. I'll try to come back in a few to complete my review.
Help/Question: The Hugin page says 32 and 64 bit binaries are available for download for v. 2013, but the only download I see is the 64 bit version. When downloaded and installed on my 32 bit MS XP Pro (up to date), it won't run. The 2012 version ran just fine. ??? Is there a separate 32 bit version of 2013, or did I miss something?
