Not only an awesome allround language project for use with or even without databases, but also a wonderful team of very skilled and charismatic people ... a real recommendation for both starters and beyond!

Harbour is the best choice to xBase programmers. This is a very weel structured project based upon xBase language compatibility, OS portability, executable reliability, safety and speed! Harbour comes with libraries to access the most up-to-date technologies. xBase programmers were never so ready to tomorrow before the Harbour Project. Congratulations to the developer team for this excelent product!

It simple works! The code quality is very good and you will be surprised how powerful it is. I really recommend it to those migrating from CA-Clipper or other xBase flavors. If you need some help to start just download the Harbour Beginners' Guide.

A very wonderful environment as developing tool and as developer community. A bridge to the heaven for old Clipper programmers and a growing project giving new unhoped way of reuse and enhance our applications. I strongly suggest also not-xBase developers to try this compiler and to partecipate this project.

Harbour is an interesting case of what can be achieved by a small team very capable and dedicated developers and a highly convincing example of qualitative open source software to which few -very few- commercial products could stand close. Perhaps, programmers out-there (even followers of mainstream products) might want to make their-selves a big favor by giving to this great tool a try.

By far the best database development language out there. I use harbour+Fivewin to build and maintain a sophisticated Windows-based club management / accounting / inventory / point of sale app that simply couldn't be done on any other platform without 10 times the effort (and 10 times the code).
