Software Open Source Grapple Framework components can be downloaded here. ***** GALE The GRAPPLE framework evolves around integrating adaptive courses in learning management systems. GALE (which stands for Adaptivity GRAPPLE Adaptive Learning Environment) is the engine that is developed within the Grapple project for serving these adaptive courses. GALE can be used as a standalone adaptive learning engine, or be integrated with the Sakai, Moodle, IMS-CLIX and Elex. GALE is deployed as a Java servlet and runs in a servlet container environment, but note that it is exclusively tested on the Apache Tomcat. GALE also needs a MySQL database (v5.1 or higher). The source can be downloaded as: - gale-1.2.2-mysql.zip (uses MySQL as database engine) or - gale-1.2.2-hsqldb.zip (no database setup required). For more information visit GALE website gale.win.tue.nl. GALE architecture is detailed in Deliverable D1.3c, "Stand-alone" Adaptive Learning Environment, final implementation (http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D1.3c-WP1-GaleSpecification-v1.0.pdf). ***** GAT In order to build new adaptive applications in GALE regular users will want to use an authoring environment that supports them in this process. That is the purpose of the GRAPPLE Authoring Tools (GAT). The GAT source can be downloaded as grapple-authoring-toolset.zip. More information about the GAT Tools can be found in deliverables: - D3.1c (domain tool, http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D3.1c-WP3-DomainModel-v1.0.pdf), - D3.2c (CRT tool, http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D3.2c-WP3-CRTToolFinal-v1.0.pdf) and - D3.3c (CAM tool, http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D3.3c-WP3-CAMToolFinal-v1.0.pdf). ***** GEB The GRAPPLE Event Bus is the main communication framework inside the GRAPPLE project. It is a message passing based system in which connected systems can send message for some specific method, and services listening to those methods can then answer to those messages. GEB is asynchronous in nature. The GEB source can be downloaded as GrappleEventBus.zip. More information about GEB can be found in deliverables - D7.1b (http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D7.1b-WP7-UpdateSpecificationInfrastructure-v2.0.pdf) and - D7.1c (http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D7.1c-WP7-Final-specification-v1.0.pdf). ***** GUMF The GRAPPLE User Modeling Framework can be used by other systems in (or outside) the framework to store user model data. GUMF includes a reasoning engine that allows user model inference as well as mapping user model data between systems. Communication between Gale and the LMSs will need GUMF if they want to exchange user model information. The GUMF source can be downloaded as gumf.zip. There is also a dbpedia and wordnet plugin for GUMF that can be downloaded at http://wwwis.win.tue.nl/~grapple/source/grapple-umf-plugin-dbpedia-wordnet.zip (7 MB). More information about GEB can be found in deliverables - D2.2b (http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D2.2b-WP2-EventDetection-v1.0.pdf) and - D2.3 (http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D2.3-WP2-ReasoningUserObservations-v1.5.pdf). ***** GDA The GRAPPLE Device Adaptation is a proof of concept implementation that shows that adaptive courses can also be adapted on the fly for mobile (and other) devices. The GDA source can be downloaded as Device Adaptation.zip. More information about GDA can be found in deliverable D4.4 (http://www.grapple-project.org/public-files/deliverables/D4.4-WP4-DeviceAdaptationInfrastructure-v1.0.pdf).
