 http://code.google.com/p/python-aosd/
 http://code.google.com/p/python-aosd/downloads/detail?name=python-aosd-0.2.0.tar.gz&can=2&q=
download version 0.2.0 and build with 'python setup.py build' (0.2.1 has compilation errors)
in ubuntu add packages 'cython', 'python-cairo-dev' and 'libaosd-dev' with
'libaosd2'
or in fedora 15 packages 'cython', 'pycairo-devel', 'libaosd-0.2.7-3.1.*.rpm'
and 'libaosd-devel-0.2.7-3.1.*.rpm'

PyOSD
 http://freshmeat.net/projects/pyosd/

Pyinotify
 http://pyinotify.sourceforge.net/
 https://raw.github.com/seb-m/pyinotify/master/python2/examples/daemon.py
 fedora 15 package 'python-inotify'

Install HDAPS - IBM Active Protection System Linux Driver:

In Ubuntu 11.04 with Unity Shell (like GNOME 3 WITHOUT gnome-panel)
 http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/festplattenschutz
'tp-smapi' and 'hdapsd' work still very well but NONE of the gnome
applets will work, neither with GNOME 3 nor Unity.

Use 'gnome-hdaps-osd' as replacement for 'gnome-hdaps-applet' (or
'hdapsgl-applet') in order to get information about your HDD protection
 status.

Daemon script usage:

Run script:
 python gnome-hdaps-osd.py
after making executable
 ./gnome-hdaps-osd.py

Stop script:
After running or starting it, stop it with the same command.
