10.43.0 - 2026-11-02
Ghostex 10.43.0 is out. Side chats, thumbnails of the pictures an agent opens, one view choice of Summary, Normal or Detailed, an OpenCode tab in every model picker with a see-through OpenCode theme, zoom for files, and a calmer chat while agents stream.
💬 Chat
- Side chats fork the session and open beside it. Side chat in the chat box (or
/btw <question>) starts a side conversation that knows the chat so far, runs in the same folder in ask-before-edits, and opens as a side panel tab; the main chat's Side chats pill lists them, with Bring back and Delete. - Pictures an agent opens show as thumbnails. When Claude, Codex, OpenCode or Gemini reads an image from disk, its row shows the picture, and a folded turn keeps its pictures inside its card in one row that scrolls sideways, with an "N images" count. Click one to open it large. A picture you already pasted isn't shown twice.
- The chat's view is one of Summary, Normal or Detailed. Simple is now called Normal, Verbose is gone (chats on it open Detailed), turning Summary off always goes back to Normal, and a "Summary view" or "Detailed view" chip at the top of the chat box has an X back to Normal. Default to Detailed view is in Settings > Advanced.
- While an agent works, its steps fold like Claude's. A running thought folds the calls it made behind "N tool calls", for every agent, and OpenCode's and Codex's many short thoughts join into one Thought row.
- The chat holds still while an agent streams. A form field you're typing in no longer slides under the caret, and a chat you scrolled up stays where you left it, thanks to @suatkocar.
- Answered forms stay answered, thanks to @suatkocar: an old answer no longer comes back as "Sending to the agent…", the ? pill counts only questions really waiting, Go to chat reaches an early form in a long turn, and a queued form reads Queued.
- A Stashed pill above the chat box shows how many prompts this chat has stashed; click it to open just those.
- The scroll marks on the chat's right edge show only messages you typed, not form answers or messages from other agents.
- The new chat's project and worktree bar hides as soon as you send the first message.
- Message from and Message to cards lose their Go to session button: click the session's name instead, which now works for every card.
- The question popup takes the chat's colours and fits the whole form.
- The menus above the chat box (Resources, Workers, Links and the others) use the same lighter frosted glass as the sidebar's menus.
- The voice agent panel is frosted glass like the Notifications menu, with its controls in the header and your conversation on the same glass.
- Slash commands look like the rest of the chat: a command such as
/renameshows as your own message, and its output as a quiet note under it, for every agent. - Paste pictures into question notes, in chat forms and question pages; they show as Image pills and reach the agent with your answers.
- Question pages get a softer look: frosted glass cards over your own wallpaper or custom picture on macOS (a soft dusk or dawn elsewhere), and options side by side with a Pick button.
- Page cards show a preview before you open them, and the preview shows the page's real top.
🤖 Agents
- Every model picker has an OpenCode tab with the models your OpenCode can use; picking one in a new chat hands it to OpenCode, thanks to @DaveW001 (#390).
- OpenCode gets a see-through Ghostex theme, so the window shows behind it like Claude Code and Codex. It's used only when you haven't picked an OpenCode theme yourself.
- OpenCode's own session name shows in the sidebar, and a name you gave it in Ghostex wins, thanks to @DaveW001 (#392).
- The model picker gets a search field when an agent has more than 6 models, and starred models sit on top in alphabetical order.
- Install hooks repairs a damaged OpenCode settings file and says why an install failed: the other computer's error, a timeout, an older Ghostex there, or the agent that didn't install.
- Coordinator threads can start on OMP, Copilot, Grok Build, Hermes, Cursor and Gemini with a chosen model, and effort where the agent has it.
- Codex's footer is read when it says "Fast" with a capital F, so its model and effort no longer go missing, thanks to @suatkocar.
🧭 Coordinators
- Handing off a coordinator keeps it a coordinator, with its Goal and Standing instructions, locally and to another computer, thanks to @diocata (#383).
- A coordinator hears about a thread stuck on a permission prompt without anyone reading its screen.
- The New Thread picker has a Coordinator row.
- A handed-off coordinator keeps the title Coordinator instead of being named after its setup line.
📂 Sidebar and files
- New and never-sent sessions go to Drafts, which opens and selects the new row when one arrives.
- Notifications keep a waiting permission request unread and red until it's answered, and the bell turns red while one waits.
- The text of an open file zooms with Cmd/Ctrl+=, - and 0 like the chat, with a Default files zoom setting, thanks to @DaveW001 (#388).
- The Add a comment box in Files opens beside the text instead of covering it.
- Filter dropdown rows have a ⋯ button and a right-click menu, and each row is only as tall as its content.
- The Rename dialog shows Generate only for long or empty names.
- Settings > Notifications has a Finished-work border switch and colour, off by default.
🪟 Windows
- Windows: transparency changes apply right away to every open window, without restarting Ghostex.
- Windows:
file:///C:/…and/C:/…chat links open the file instead of copying its path, and documents and other files can open in the system's default app, thanks to @DaveW001 (#391).
📱 On the phone
- The phone picks its own sessions list layout in Settings > Sessions list; Unified lists every computer's sessions together without the computer tabs.
- The Android notification leaves out coordinators' threads and side chats, and its status bar icon is the seven-petal flower.
- Reconnecting shows a plain spinner and keeps its gap above the working bar.
🩹 Fixes and polish
- Switching accounts brings the Claude conversation along, completes on an account at its limit, and no longer shows the previous login's sign-in error.
- A signed-out Claude account is restored from this computer's newer copy of its login.
- Sessions start while the Mac is logged out, and Ghostex recovers by itself after you log back in.
- A command's auto-detected title goes back when the terminal returns to its prompt, thanks to @Bet4 (#379).
- Work mode keeps a workspace's ticket command and its masked credentials (not switched on yet), thanks to @lardissone (#378, [#384]).
- The onboarding screens show the seven-petal logo, and the Claude extension's description names the sidebar's top bar.
Windows beta packages are not Authenticode-signed and may show a SmartScreen warning.
