genealogydb Files

To install a deb version of the genealogydb software, download the deb version
desired to some folder on your local computer.  The three checksums in the
release readme verify your download is error free.  Open a terminal window by
selecting menu->all applications->system tools->terminal.  Go to the location
where you downloaded the deb version of genealogydb (e.g., Downloads) by
typing "cd Downloads" in the terminal window.  Typing the following installs
genealogydb on your system:
	sudo gdebi ./genealogydb_1.4.0_amd64.deb
where 1.4.0_amd64 is version_arch for the latest version 1.4.0 and amd64 is
for amd64 architecture machines (most pcs although arch is armhf for raspberry
pi machines).  When you do this, you must be logged in as the primary user on
the system and you must enter the primary user login password when prompted
to do so.  If an error for duplicate executable /usr/bin/renum occurs, type
	sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite ./genealogydg_1.4.0_amd64.deb

The reviews for the octfont project serve as a question and answer area for
genealogydb and other josephms sourceforge projects.  The reviews for the
octfont project are checked regularly by the author as a method of support for
genealogydb.

Rel_1.4.0 of genealogydb changes the emacs info mode usage to follow recent
changes in emacs to force all info mode usage to be referenced by a top level
directory file named dir.  Since emacs allows the INFOPATH environment variable
to add a local dir file to the system dir file, genealogydb sets a temporary
info directory to view the selected data file.  The temporary info directory is
removed when viewing ends.  Genalogydb checks the emacs version and uses the new
form for newer emacs versions but reverts back to the old info mode usage for
older versions (i.e., version 24.2 and before).  This version also changes the
ralg24 font to improve its appearance.  This version revises the rungnldata man
page and the gui help page to clarify how the rungnldata gui works.  A new
audit, checkchildnames, is added in this version.  Add a check in rungnldata
for default font known by xlsfonts.
