Fstrim tool is part of the util-linux project where it is being developed and maintained. This project is deprecated and no longer maintained.

Fstrim is used on a mounted filesystem to discard (or "trim") blocks which are not in use by the filesystem. This is useful for solid-state drives (SSDs) and thinly-provi-sioned storage. Fstrim has been already merged into util-linux-ng!
