  • Great opensource work from the devs!
  • After years of stumbling around, we finally have software at a very high level. The number of updates appearing on average every week - two, proves the intensive work of developers on improving the application. The main challenge at the moment is probably to create a version that allows group work in remote mode, for example on Google or OneDrive. Work on it, it's very much needed right now. I wrote about my other FreePlane needs in your blog. By the way, you have a big mess of communication on the site. Not sure where to put different comments. I can't find what I wrote yesterday. And finally, why double login - to the SourceForge platform and to GitHub? (I have an account on SourceForge and it's probably enough) Wieslaw Belz
  • Easily the best open source mindmapping software! Especially once you get past the surface and into the less obvious features. Great job on this software!
  • The best mindmap software on the pc 💻
  • hello
  • Freeplane and its predecessor Freemind are my favorite desktop mind mapping programs and I've used or tested all of the top-rated mind mapping software. If you spend a little time learning the system, it is fantastic for supporting years worth of ideas, notes, plans, etc. I see Freeplane as the #1 personal information mapping software for a variety of reasons. Freeplane is often not listed as a top mind mapping program and this is a nasty missed opportunity for those who are looking for maps that can easily hold large amounts of information, organize it in an easily readable format, and help organize so many details. Having the files saved locally is also a big benefit to me as I don't want to store my mindmaps anywhere else. Support seems to be good and there is enough of a group to still get useful feedback for questions about Freemind. Check out Freeplane today and once you learn the basics, I believe you will really enjoy its uses. Good luck!

  • Freeplane is a fantastic piece of software. Thank you very much for making it available to the public. I am using it every day (almost) and really love it. If I may, I would suggest the possibility of importing data directly from spreadsheets? Great stuff anyway!!!! Regards JL

  • After reviewing many other alternatives, Freeplane is my choice. Thanks to the active developing team, it's feature-rich so that you will find all featrures you can imagine in a mindmapping software and more.
  • A fellow Freeplane Chad, I see. I myself have tried numerous paid Mind Map applications, and nothing can hit the spot like FreePlane does.
  • Freeplane is a great mindmap and knowledge map software with active development which seems to be the most important factor on Open Source programs these days. I recommend using the default settings and templates first as the program can grow complex rapidly. I would love to see some 3d functionality eventually planned for the software to compete in this burgeoning market. Mindmapping is the tool of choice for managing today's information overload problems. FriendfortheArtists plans on releasing some training videos on YouTube. The only complete mindmaps without costing an arm and leg are Freeplane(Open Source) and another one that wouldn't be appropriate to mention here. I strongly recommend both.

  • With installing Freeplane 1.9.8 I have lost the ability to assign styles directly or to assign a style to an F-key. I can only use those F-keys previously assigned and cannot assign a style directly to a node. Will this be fixed? Regards, Stephen Hicks

  • Warning to newbies: In Linux (or at least Lubuntu 20.04) *avoid FM installing from "Software Sources" (=snap)* because altho installs +opens ok, FM fails to open from/save to locations other than /home/[user]/... e.g. from NTFS virtual drive (that works fine in other applications in same Lub) . OK install and use from muon package mgr but = no latest FM version. ***Best source =latest ver (currently 1.8.11) as zip downld from sourceforge.net/projects/freeplane/ =also very simple to "install" + use = simply extract fldr from zip to chosen location and then click-run sh file (or exe in Windows = which I have not tested yet but I'm confident it'll work)
