    Hello.

I've worked on the french translation and posted it (V3) in Mantis [

Can some french user check it and give here their feedbacks ?

To install the new translation :

    1. download file and remove V3 in the name
    2. on your computer : browse your Freeplane installation directory, create subfolders resources/translations and put the file in it
    3. Launch FreePlane and test it in french.

    Thanks for your help.

PS : to remove the new translation simply delete the created folder.

As a native french native speaker, my suggestions inspired from the MS Office
terminology after a quick look :

    • "extérieurs objets" (incorrect french)-> "objets externes".
    • "Utiliser la mise en forme riche" -> "Mise en forme riche" (verb needed?)
    • "Utiliser la mise en forme en texte brut" -> "Mise en forme brute" (verb needed?)
Changer et réviser la couleur de fond -> "changer la couleur de fond" ("et
      réviser" is not useful)

    Hello,

    Thanks for your answer ;-).

    • "extérieurs objets" (incorrect french)-> "objets externes" => not found in the fr translation file.
    • "Utiliser la mise en forme riche" -> "Mise en forme riche" => changed to "Texte riche"
    • "Utiliser la mise en forme en texte brut" -> "Mise en forme brute" => changed to "Texte brut"
    • "Changer et réviser la couleur de fond" -> "changer la couleur de fond" => changed to "Changer couleur de fond".

Have someone help test before I upload new file ?

  • RobinsonFr

    RobinsonFr - 2009-12-26

Is there a way to correct "extérieurs objets". This entry doesn't make sense
for french users and is based on a huge grammar error. "Exterieurs" is never
used inside programs. We use "externes" instead when we use object links.

It seems you're not using the file I uploaded in Mantis ... I have already
changed this "extérieurs objets" label in the version 3 of the FR file.

1.0.38 RC : "extérieurs objets" not changed to replace with "objets externes"

I have updated translation file for french to V4. Please see here : https://s
    ourceforge.net/apps/mantisbt/freeplane/view.php?id=354
    (sourceforge.net) .

    To use/test this translation :

    • download the file
    • remove "V4" from the name
    • create in the freeplane installation directory a new directory "resources\translations" and put the file in it ... it's done !

"Extérieurs objets" is now translated to "Objets...".

If you have any comments you're welcome, we can discuss terms used.

    You're welcome.

For your information this french translation will be available in the next
    FreePlane beta. Thank's to Dimitry.

I'm still open to discuss french translation is this forum ... some keys are
still not translated because I do not know/understand/need these functions ;-)
and it's mandatory to use a feature before doing its translation.

    Hello,

    I don't know if you know http://freeplane.sourceforge.net/cgi-
    bin/translist.cgi
    but
there it shows a few missing, wrong (aka untranslated) and unchecked strings.
Is this what you expect? (also checking my own script)
Sadly, I can also tell when the translation was pulled out of Bazaar, but not
    which version is it...

I was thinking that we could possibly add a dummy translation string,
    something like

    Translation_Version = French, Version 2010-10-01.13 by ldmpub ldmpub- nospam@users.sourceforge.net

which could be used by each Translator to add his own version and user ID /
    name

What do you think? (you also, Dimitry)
    Eric

    Hello ewl,

I will try to answer your questions but please note that my english and
technical SF knowledge are basic :

    • I know the translation page you mentioned (thank's to the wiki). I also know some translations are still to be done but I have choosen to translate only FreePlane functions I daily use or functions I fully understand ... to prevent any misunderstanding (for instance filters are still a mess for me !).

    • I don't know what the Bazaar is ?

    • Adding a translation string ? I don't mind : my name can be displayed or not but on the principle I'm ready to collect suggestions for the french translation and to maintain a quality translation, with other good will.

    Regards

    Hello,
    1.0.38 beta
    I suggest two updates :

    • Remove first icon => "Supprimer la première icône"
    • Ctrl-Comma => "Ctrl-Virgule"

  • Nam

    Nam - 2010-01-16

Remove first icon => corrected like suggested, it's a new key/function. I will
    update the translation file.

Ctrl-Comma => not found even in the last En translation files
    .

Is there a way to be notified when a new key is created ? It will improve the
translation process if I can be warned.

    Thanks for your replies.

    To ewl :

it seems you have provided a new FR translation today while I was trying to
translate the full RC 1.0.43_02 version (since 3 days !). Could you please
tell me what changes you have made since this version because I made a file
comparison and I didn't noticed anything.

    thanks for your anwser,

    Salut,

first, sorry for having skipped you, I wanted only to quickly suppress all
superfluous keys in all different languages (excluding German) and then
thought, what the hell, I'm French, let's finish the French translation, just
did it without 2nd thought and forgot to communicate.

Second, my version is now in Bazaar and 100% complete, at least according to
    http://freeplane.sourceforge.net/cgi-
    bin/translist.cgi
    , so
I'm not sure I understand your question about the differences?!

But I can only invite you to go for
    http://freeplane.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Translation_How-To#Documentat
    ion_map_translation
; promised, I let you do
    without interfering! ;-)

    Eric,

    1. Thank's for your answer. I'm not able to find your 100% translated file neither in the last FreePlane version (freeplane_bin-1.0.43_03.zip) nor in the bazaar (revision 916). For both (files are identical) the "Freeplane Translation Check" page shows the following results :
      Reference date : Wed Apr 7 12:12:25 2010
      Compared filename : Resources_fr_ewl_from_bazaar-rev_916.properties
      Comparaison time : Wed Apr 7 13:25:55 2010
      Missing keys : 0
      Superfluous keys : 3
      Wrong keys : 13
      Keys needing check : 13
      Reference keys : 1279
      Quality index : 98%

Could you please provide me your last corrected file ?

    1. Is there a reason why the keys are not exactly in the same order in the properties files. Sometimes order is :
      OptionPanel.disable_key_type
      OptionPanel.disable_key_type.tooltip

    sometimes it's in reverse order
    OptionPanel.disable_key_type.tooltip
    OptionPanel.disable_key_type ?

    Thank's for your help

PS : I'm trying to do the merge of our 2 french translations myself but if you
are able to do it more easily you are welcome !

    Hi,

mmh, I think you looked in Bazaar into trunk, where the right place to look is release_branches/1_0_x (you might have got
frustrated to not see your changes applied).

On point 2, no clue! I could imagine that the sort orders depends on the
locale, but that's just a guess, is this important?

    Eric

  • Dimitry Polivaev

    Hello,

now we sort all language property files before commit. Volker developed an ANT
    task to do it automatically.

    Hello,

Thank's for your quick answers as ever ;-).

ewl => it's ok in "branches". I'm not familiar with dev, why files are
duplicated in branches and trunk ?

ewl + dimitry => order is important to make a comparison between files, is
there an easy way to sort keys in the file ?

    Best regards,

  • Dimitry Polivaev

Hello "ldmpub-nospam " (is it the name you like?),

I have found that our sort algorithm used for formatting and sorting of
translation files seems to have a bug making difficulties in file comparison.
We shall address this problem probably next week.

    Best regards,
    Dimitry

    Hi all,

I finally managed to get Eric translation file from the Bazaar and to mix it
with the one I'm working one since several days.

You could find this file in bug 0000555 / https://sourceforge.net/apps/mantis
    bt/freeplane/view.php?id=555
or wait (not long !) that Dimitry includes it in next test
    build.

French translation is done at 100% (thanks to Eric) and I made my best to
clarify entries on FreePlane features I use daily.

I hope this french translation will ease the work of both first users and
daily users like me to get the best of this great tool named FreePlane !

    Please, feedbacks are welcomed ;-).

I have planned to re-work the french translation next week. Your comments are
    welcomed to be included ;-).

    Hello,
the French traduction is quite perfect. Thank you !

Despite this, Here are some propositions :

    • Outils/Attributs/Assigner des Attributs/Passer le noeud racine (checkbox) : "exclure le noeud racine" or "exclure le coeur" would be better.
    • Outils/Montrer la liste des alertes planifiées : "afficher la liste des alertes planifiées"
    • Outils/Exécuter les scripts des noeuds sélectionnés
    • Filtrer/Filter Toolbar : "afficher la barre d'outils des filtres" or something like that

    • Many different words are used to design the same think. For connectors :

    • contextual menu (right clic) : "lien graphique"
    • Filter menu : "connecteur"
    • "Insérer" menu : "lien local graphique".
The same word should be used. "connecteur" sounds good. It has more properties
than the "graphical link" ("lien graphique") in Freemind.

    Thank again for your work

    Franck.
