FLXLab v2.0 - A program for running psychology experiments. Copyright (C) 2007 Todd R. Haskell (todd.haskell@wwu.edu) Use and distribution is governed by the terms of the GNU General Public License. See the file LICENSE.TXT for details. *** THIS IS A NEW VERSION OF THE README FILE WHICH REPLACES THE *** ONE CALLED README.TXT FLXLab is a program for conducting computer-based experiments in psychology and related fields. It can present stimuli in the form of graphics, text, or sound, and can record responses to those stimuli, either manual (i.e., pressing a key) or verbal. FLXLab is available for Windows and Linux. For Windows, most users will want to download the Windows installer package (the file ending in .msi). There are two installer packages for this release; the one called "flxlab-2.0.bin.msi" should work on Windows XP or earlier. If you are running Vista, you will need the one called "FLXLab2.0Vista.msi" instead. Note that the Vista package does not include the demos. The reason is that the demos do not work properly on Vista if they are installed in a system directory. You can download them separately and uncompress them in a personal folder of your choosing, and they should work fine. The one glitch with the Vista version is that FLXLab scripts do not display the cute little script icon. However, double-clicking on scripts should still open them. For Linux, or if you want to compile FLXLab yourself on Windows, you can download the source version (the file ending in .src.zip). If you want to know more about FLXLab before downloading other files, you can take a look at the user guide, which provides a detailed description of the use and capabilities of FLXLab. If you have problems getting FLXLab to run, take a look at the project web page (http://flxlab.sourceforge.net); known bugs and their fixes (if any) are listed there. If that doesn't work, feel free to drop me an e-mail (address above).
