CONTENTS: FluidEarth 2.2 RELEASE

This is release 2.2 of HR Wallingford’s FluidEarth software for the OpenMI standard. This release contains the following:

Pipistrelle

  • FluidEarth2_Pipistrelle_2_2_3_0_x86.msi - A windows installer for FluidEarth 'Pipistrelle' editor for composing and running OpenMI compositions. This new version provides a debugger launch option for FluidEarth2 SDK implemented components and various bug fixes. It includes the FluidEarth SDK assemblies sufficient for all the examples in the online tutorial.

Basic Extensions

  • FluidEarth2_ComponentBuilder_2_2_3_0_x86.msi - A windows installer for the FluidEarth Component Builder, making it easier to prepare FluidEarth components in languages such as FORTRAN. This works both as a Pipistrelle Extension and a stand-alone application.
  • FluidEarth2_SpatialView_2_2_3_0_x86.msi - A windows installer for the FluidEarth Spatial Viewer, allowing you to view associated spatial datasets. This works only as a Pipistrelle Extension.

Other Supporting Material

  • The other files included are listed in the section below. They are for more advanced users and developers who wish to experiment, try examples additional to the those in the online tutorial and perform unit and conformance tests.

HOW TO INSTALL

We recommend that you begin with the online tutorial at http://elearning.fluidearth.net/ . To do this tutorial you need to install just Pipistrelle and the Basic Extensions. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY!

Install using the MSIs one by one. All the supplied MSIs provide the option to install somewhere apart from the default location (?:\Program Files). If the default is not used it is strongly recommended that all MSIs are installed to the same parent folder which should NOT be on a Network Share or a root folder, e.g. C:\FluidEarthInstalls. This will ensure that Pipistrelle finds all installed extensions automatically and minimise issues from Pipistrelle encountering unexpected system specific files on its search paths.

OTHER SUPPORTING MATERIAL

The more advanced user

This section is useful for those who wish to run FluidEarth unit tests (contributing developers, etc) and those who wish to load further examples compositions and components not covered in the tutorial material.

  • PipExt_FluidEarthUnitTests_2_2_3_0_x86.zip - A windows installer for FluidEarth Unit Tests which works both as a Pipistrelle Extension and a stand-alone application.
  • FluidEarth2_ExamplesImporter_2_2_3_0_x86.msi - A windows installer for FluidEarth example components and compositions. This works only as a Pipistrelle Extension.

Specifically for developers

This section only applies to developers wishing to build their own components and test for OpenMI Association Technical Committee conformance.

  • FluidEarth_SDK_2_2_3_0_x86.zip - A windows installer for the FluidEarth Software Development Kit codebase. The SDK is the base set of libraries allowing you to build OpenMI components.
  • OatcConformanceTool_2_2_3_0_x86.zip - A windows installer for the OpenMI Association Technical Committee Conformance tool. This works both as a Pipistrelle Extension and a stand-alone application.
