Name:	EvolveBDR v0.0.2 - "Project Autumn"

By:		Ramon J. Long III
Email:	ramonjlongiii<at>gmail<dot>com
Rev.:	07/04/2012

What is it?:

	EvolveBDR is an OVF format virtual appliance running Bacula on
	top of TurnKey Linux RC 12.

	<http://www.bacula.org>
	<http://www.turnkeylinux.org>

	EvolveBDR aims to be a complete file-level backup solutions (and
	more!) for heterogeneous networks; large and small. A backup
	solution should be mature, robust, and enterprise proven. That
	is why we are using Bacula.

	EvolveBDR is not an official TurnKey Linux product, nor is this
	project endorsed or supported by TurnKey Linux.

Requirements:

	EvolveBDR can run any platform which can utilize OVF VMs and
	supports VMware VMDKs.

	This VM requires 4 GB RAM, 100 GB HDD (thin povisioned)

Getting Started:

	Unpack the RAR file and import the OVF according to the
	documentation of your hypervisor. If you want to test this
	on your desktop, I recommend either VirtualBox or VMware
	Player (both free to use).

	It is recommended that you manually configure the networking
	for your EvolveBDR appliance. You should also consider using
	DNS to give your EvolveBDR appliance a FQDN. However, the
	currently configured hostname should work.

Versions:

	v0.0.2 - "Project Autumn"

	Updates to this version:
	* Added notice of GNU Public License v3.
	* eth0 is now assigned an address via DHCP.
	* The hostname is now EvolveBDR and /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf
	has been updated to reflect this change.
	* /etc/host.conf has been updated to use hosts then bind.
	* /etc/hosts has added: 127.0.0.1 EvolveBDR for hosts resolution.
	* Added and configured the Bacula Restore 1.6 Webmin module.
	* Added and configured the File Upload 1.060.1 Webmin module.
	* Added Vol001 and /home/bacula as the archival directory.
	* Created a 'Windows XP-2k3 Users on C' FileSet.
	* Add curlftpfs to allows users to have an FTP/SFTP folder
	as an archive directory.
	* Added PACKAGES.txt - a list of currently installed packages.
	There is a copy at /root/PACKAGES.txt for your convenience.

	v0.0.1 - "Project Autumn"

	Initial version.
	U: root.  All passwords: 'bacula'.
	This was built upon TurnKey Linux Core RC 12.
	Includes: Webmin with Bacula module.
	Future plans include sane default backup and restore jobs.

To Do:

	* Consider installing VMware Tools.
	* Create & test more FileSet configurations for the Bacula
	Director in /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf baed on the
	existing FileSet configuration entries.
	* Update the Bacula configuration files to replace "core-*"
	with "evolvebdr-".
	* Research using Dynamic DNS to host a dedicated domain;
	probably "evolvebdr.local" with the Dynamic DNS Server 0.1
	Webmin module. The zone file should then update itself
	accordingly with the IP address assigned via DHCP on boot.
	* Create a custom web design/skin for Webmin.
	* Create a web page server from the appliance containg
	client software downloads. Use AutoIT to automate the
	installation of the Bacula client software on Windows.
	* Research whether or not configuration management with
	chef, puppet, or cfengine makes sense for this project.

Pricing and Support:

	EvolveBDR is released under the GNU Public License v3. This
	software comes with absolutely no warranty of any kind, and this
	should be regarded as ALPHA software not yet ready for serious
	production. At this time, support is offered by the community at
	the EvolveBDR Sourceforge page. You are encouraged to submit
	a ticket through the EvolveBDR project page on Sourceforge.
