Equalizer APO is a parametric / graphic equalizer for Windows. It is implemented
as an Audio Processing Object (APO) for the system effect infrastructure
introduced with Windows Vista.

Requirements:
- Windows Vista or later (Windows 7 - 11 have been tested)
- CPU architecture x64 (64 bit), x86 (32 bit) or ARM64 (on Windows 10/11)
- applications must not bypass the system effect infrastructure
(APIs like ASIO or WASAPI exclusive mode can't be used)

Equalizer APO can be used in conjunction with Room EQ Wizard (http://www.roomeqwizard.com/), because it can read its filter text file format.

Please have a look at the Wiki (http://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/wiki/) for instructions on installation and configuration

Features

  • virtually unlimited number of filters
  • works on any number of channels
  • very low latency, which makes it suited for interactive applications
  • low CPU usage
  • modular graphical user interface
  • VST plugin support
  • integrates into Voicemeeter (http://www.voicemeeter.com/)

  • I love almost everything about Equalizer APO; it's been the solution to many of my problems involving audio. The only thing I wish it had was compatibility with NS1 Noise Suppressor; more specifically, I wish it worked with Waves' WaveShell System. I recently paid for the NS1 Noise Suppressor, thinking I could add it to my microphone, but I found out that adding the .dll file didn't work because "Library could not be loaded." As stated before, Equalizer APO is amazing, and the only issue is compatibility with VST3 plugins.
  • I discovered this app recently and donwloaded the free trial version, after using that for a couple of hours I bought the full 1.4.1 version. With my EQ I improved the sound of my speakers so much, later I discoverd that my Bluetooth headphones, earbuds don't work if the EQ is on. Approximately a week later the 1.4.2 update came out and fixed this problem! Now It's perfect. I definitely recommend this app. Easy to use, great sound.
  • The best solution we music producers have to connect ASIO related stuff such as music programs, DAWs, instruments and audio devices, as well as the option to calibrate audio systems with it or along with VSTs inside the program (although it only supports VST2 at the moment). Having said that, there is still bugs with its connection to Voicemeeter (which is necessary to have a full ASIO audio output on all programs at he same time, and probably the problem is on the Voicemeeter program), and the UI could be improved more, but other than that is very good!
  • I have been using the Equalizer APO for years now and version 1.4 is easily the best version released so far. This comes as kind of a surprise, as Version 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 were rendered almost useless because of the way the software behaved. I'm using the APO for life streams, to make my own sound effects and switch between them with my stream deck, using batch files, to replace the currently used file, essentially. Running it on Windows 11, the software runs perfect now and since Windows 10 is mostly the same, i suspect it will run just as fine there as well. I recommend not to use the built in functions but rather use VST plugins for that. Talking about the VST Plugins though, I have two major, long standing gripes with the APO. Gripe Number 1: The VST plugins do not respond with real time read outs. Some plugins, I can simply use blind, without any feedback of the plugins, others will not work because of it. Gripe Number 2: Why is there no VST3 support? The VST3 SDK has been made public 4 years ago and VST2 support has basically ended. This will render the Equalizer APO useless within a few years. Despite those two gripes, I just HAVE to use the APO, since there is no other free software in existence, that can do this. Heck, I did not find even payware, that allows me this extent of usage without quite some obstacles to overcome. In Theory, OBS could do it, but the shortcommings of taking that route are too severe. This is qhy the Equalizer APO is a must have tool for me.
