eMule Next 1.0.0 Beta 1

eMule Next is an independent, unofficial GPL-2.0-or-later fork based on eMule Community 0.72a. Beta 1 keeps eD2K and Kad compatibility while improving the first-run experience, large-library performance, Windows integration and release verification.

Downloads

• x64 portable: recommended for modern 64-bit Windows systems.
• Win32 portable: provided for 32-bit Windows and legacy compatibility.
• Source archive: complete corresponding source for this build.

These are portable packages, not installers. Extract the selected ZIP to a writable folder and run eMuleNext.exe. Do not run both architectures against the same configuration folder at the same time.

Highlights

• Faster loading and hashing of large shared collections, with safer detection of files that change while they are being hashed.
• A clearer six-page first-run wizard with automatic Windows-language selection and 43 included language modules.
• Optional HTTPS line-speed test. If accepted, the recommended upload limit is 80% of the measured capacity and download remains unlimited. If skipped, both directions remain unlimited.
• Checked first-run choices for downloading an eD2K server.met and Kad nodes.dat, with an offline bundled server-list fallback.
• Experimental automatic home-router setup using PCP, NAT-PMP and UPnP, with private-network, VPN, conflicting-rule and port-validation safeguards.
• Corrected unlimited-upload behaviour so the historical internal estimate no longer acts like a hidden bandwidth cap; slot-opening safeguards remain.
• Improved first-run auto-connect timing, window sizing, directory-field alignment and multilingual interface validation.
• Release hardening and verification for Win32 and x64: ASLR, DEP, CFG, security cookie, package manifest, SPDX 2.3 SBOM and SHA-256 checksums.

Important notes

• This is a Beta release. Back up an existing configuration before testing.
• The Windows binaries are currently unsigned. Windows SmartScreen or antivirus reputation checks may warn because the project is new. Verify the SHA-256 checksum, obtain the files only from the official project pages and keep Windows security protection enabled. See WINDOWS-SMARTSCREEN.md in each package.
• Automatic port mapping depends on the router and ISP. It cannot guarantee High ID and cannot bypass provider CGNAT or unsupported VPN configurations.
• English and Italian first-run text received direct review. The other included translations passed structural and layout checks but still benefit from review by native speakers.
• ARM64 is not included in this release.

Verification

Use SHA256SUMS-1.0.0-beta.1-ALL.txt to verify the portable packages, source archive, manifests and SBOMs. The public packages contain no private diagnostic CSV files, saved user profile, logs, crash dumps or debug symbols.
