ELDER

A Bitcoin meta-protocol for globally verifiable seniority primitives.

What is ELDER?

ELDER assigns deterministic sequence numbers (1, 2, 3...) to valid ELDER Mint Transactions in Bitcoin consensus order.

This creates:

  • Seniority: Lower numbers are provably earlier in consensus order
  • Anchoring: Each sequence provides a unique, pseudonymous attachment point for higher-layer systems

Sequences are deterministically assigned and consensus-verifiable (see SPEC.md §3 and §4 for ordering and reorganization rules).

Files

  • SPEC.mdNormative protocol specification (sole authority)
  • indexer.py — Reference implementation (non-normative)
  • test_vectors.json — Test vectors (non-normative)

Quick Start

  1. Run Bitcoin Core with RPC enabled
  2. Download and run the indexer:
python indexer.py http://user:pass@127.0.0.1:8332
  1. View results in elder_state.json

Protocol

See SPEC.md for the complete and authoritative specification.

In case of any discrepancy between this README, the indexer, test vectors, or documentation, SPEC.md governs absolutely.
