DiskGeek was the only app in the range on its own design. This puts it on the same shell as DriverGeek, CleanGeek and AppGeek - same sidebar, same header, same cards, same About layout, same colours.

Changed

  • The app now asks for the dark theme explicitly. It used to follow the Windows theme, which is why DiskGeek could come up light and look like a different product to everything else we make.
  • Rebuilt around a sidebar rather than tabs: Overview, Explorer, Treemap, Duplicates, Similar images, Search, Snapshots, Settings. The reclaim figures sit next to Duplicates and Similar images in the sidebar, so you can see what is worth recovering without opening either screen.
  • New Overview screen: how much was scanned, how much is recoverable, how many files, and how many folders could not be read - plus the biggest six things on the drive.
  • New Settings screen stating what DiskGeek will not do: deleted files go to the Recycle Bin, there is no scheduled or unattended deletion, and there is no registry cleaning or system tuning.
  • The treemap was drawing a stock primary-colour set with white gutters. Same eight-way separation, house colours.
  • About no longer jumps to a different palette when you open it.
  • The Explorer tree opens its root when a scan finishes instead of showing one collapsed row.

Fixed

  • The Overview totals are counted off the scan itself rather than the display tree. Counting the display tree would have built a view model for every file on the drive - hundreds of thousands of them on a full C: - just to produce two numbers.
  • The sidebar and Overview figures now refresh after a scan, a duplicate or similar-image find, a delete and a rename, so they cannot show stale numbers.

Download

DiskGeekSetup.exe - installer, self-contained, 64-bit Windows. No .NET prerequisite.

SHA256SUMS.txt is published with it so you can check what you downloaded. The binaries are not code signed, so Windows SmartScreen will warn the first time you run one.
