The headline is reviewing what the agent changed: a real diff in the write-approval dialog before a file is touched, and a changed-files list with per-file diffs under the answer after a run finishes — so there is a diff to review whether or not you approve writes manually.

Added

  • feat(agent): review agent file changes with diffs — two complementary answers to a long-standing gap (the Git Diff/Merge view was removed back in 0.4.x and never replaced). Before the write, the approval dialog for edit_file/write_file now renders IntelliJ's diff viewer — current vs. proposed, syntax-highlighted — instead of dumping the raw JSON tool arguments; AgentDiffPreviewFactory mirrors the executors' own file resolution and replacement logic, including replace_all and the LF normalization from [#1144], so the preview cannot disagree with what actually gets written, and tools with no previewable file change (run_command, MCP tools) keep the existing arguments view. After the run, a finished agent run lists the files it changed under its chat response with +N/-M counts, each row opening an IDE diff of the file as it was before the run against its current state — this is the path that matters for most setups, since the approval dialog only appears when writes are approved manually. Controlled by Settings → Agent → "Show changed files with diffs after an agent run", on by default. AgentFileChangeTracker snapshots content on the first write to each file per run, so a file edited five times shows one cumulative diff rather than five; snapshots are retained for the last 20 runs and capped at 1MB per file, and every tracker call site degrades silently because the review is a convenience that must never stop the agent from working. Both the streaming and non-streaming completion paths drain onto the finished message. Known limitations: a cancelled run shows no review section (the files were still changed, but the completion hook never fires), and the CLI and ACP runners are not covered since their edits do not go through the edit_file/write_file executors (#705, [#1270])

Documentation

  • docs(agent): new Reviewing What the Agent Changed and Reviewing Before a Write Happens sections in the Agent Mode guide, plus the two approval settings added to its settings table — previously referenced but never documented — and a blog post announcing the feature with screenshots of both the approval dialog and the post-run list. Also removes the stale Git Diff/Merge references that still advertised the removed 0.4.x feature as current in README.md, the introduction, the chat-interface feature toggles and the plugin.xml description; the historical changelog entry recording the removal is left intact (#1270)
  • docs: new Success Stories page collecting how people actually use DevoxxGenie, linked from the site footer and the README, alongside a blog post inviting users to share theirs (#1265, [#1266])
  • docs(blog): add tool window screenshots to the Personas post, so the v1.12.0 announcement shows the dropdown and persona selection rather than describing them (#1264)

Dependencies

  • chore(deps): bump docs toolchain — js-yaml 4.3.0 → 4.3.1 (#1268)
