What's changed
- Privacy log (extended access). The Apps tab has a PRIVACY band; Open shows Android's own record of which apps used the camera, the microphone and the location: when, for how long, from the background or not, app by app and moment by moment. On Android 17, which keeps them, refused requests show too. Shown, never stored; without extended access the band offers Android's own Privacy dashboard instead.
- System apps page (extended access). The Apps tab's SYSTEM APPS band leads to every app on the system image, with a search. Remove takes a preinstalled app you do not use away from this user only (
pm uninstall --user); the system image's copy stays and Restore brings it back. Every removal is asked about first, the apps the phone depends on say what breaks and want that acknowledged, and the ones it cannot do without (Android's core, the home screen, keyboard, phone app and web view in use, Device Watch itself) cannot be removed from here. The verdict is read again just before the command, and a removal or restore the shell calls done but the package manager contradicts is reported as nothing changed. - Kernel page (root): sleep. The kernel's sleep attempts, what stopped the last one, and the wakeup sources that woke the phone most or held it awake longest.
- The app no longer appears in its own log. Every location-flavoured read (cell list, Wi-Fi name and details, service state) now happens only while the app is on screen and goes through one gate, so Device Watch's service no longer leaves refusals in Android's privacy log by the minute.
- Wi-Fi under a VPN. The Wi-Fi band, signal, speed, standard and security come from the Wi-Fi network's own capabilities, so a VPN no longer hides or mislabels them; the name is read again when the network changes within the minute.
- Android 17. The battery's design capacity from the kernel where Android hides the power profile (through extended access where the phone keeps the file from apps), and whether developer options and USB debugging are on, read through extended access since Android 17 hides the switches.

Installing
Updates cleanly over v1.4.x and later. If you are coming from v1.3.1 or older (package com.example.modernwidget), uninstall the old app first — it is a different package and will not update.
