User Reviews

  • It sounds great and interesting from what the author says it can do. Once installed, no idea what to do with the music files or other files I want to catalogue. Tried all possible combinations and options in the menus. Not an intuitive program and no tutorials available on how to get started, the manual is not enough for this task.
  • Data Crow is an impressive cataloging software that stands out in its field due to its unique approach and extensive customization options. Here are some key advantages and my thoughts on the program: Strengths: Highly Configurable Interface: One of Data Crow's most appealing features is its customizable interface, which allows users to adapt the program to their specific needs. This flexibility makes it suitable for cataloging virtually any type of collection. Cross-Platform Compatibility: Built on Java, Data Crow runs seamlessly on different platforms, providing users with the freedom to use it regardless of their operating system. Active Development: The software is actively maintained, and its developer is genuinely engaged with the user community. Suggestions and feedback from users are often considered, which ensures the program evolves in ways that meet real-world needs. Unique Approach to Cataloging: Unlike many cataloging tools that are rigid in their structure, Data Crow offers a rare level of freedom to catalog any type of collection, from books and movies to completely custom categories. Responsiveness to User Feedback: The developer's willingness to address user concerns and implement suggestions is a significant strength. It creates a sense of trust that reported bugs will be fixed and that the software will continue to improve. Challenges: While Data Crow occasionally suffers from bugs, these issues do not overshadow its potential. Knowing that the software is under active development and that the developer is committed to resolving issues provides reassurance. Final Thoughts: Data Crow is a powerful and versatile tool with tremendous potential. Its innovative design, coupled with active development and user-centric improvements, makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to catalog their collections. Despite minor flaws, I wouldn’t consider switching to another program, as I trust that any problems will be addressed in future updates. For its flexibility and ongoing support, Data Crow earns my strong recommendation.
  • Great features out of the box but also very flexible and customisable, great product.
  • I'm from Switzerland and we have the 1000 character like this: 1'000. Yesterday I started reading CDs! These are all on my computer so I could read them from the directory. I started with 10'000 maniacs and many problems. First the software changed its name to first name: 10 and cash on delivery: 000 maniacs and name: 000 maniacs 10. I then changed the name to name: 10'000 maniacs. This went well until the third CD, then one of the previously read was deleted from the container. So it went on, in the end I had two in the container and three somewhere. That left me no peace and today I tried again with A-HA, read in 5 CDs without problems, all in container A-HA. So I deleted the 10'000 maniacs entries, changed the name to 10000 maniacs in the directory and read them again. Easy today! Therefore, in the name may not be " ' "! It turned once again a problem. For CDs read in from 3 Doors Down and 38 Special came at the end of an error message that I had to confirm for each title, then there was nothing, the CD was not read. First (3 Doors Down) I re-read the CDs and everything was OK. But that is associated with a lot of time and effort. Then I have (38 Special) recognize the imported CDs with Tagman and the new directories could also be processed. So I see a lot of work! What I have to say, after initial difficulties, I am convinced that this software can help me manage my more than 1000 CDs.
  • This software puts the power in the hands of the user! If you buy a commercial product, you get a some thing that is fixed in concrete because the developers think they know better than you what you actually need, arrogant idiots. Microsoft are full of them.
