GNOME is similar in purpose and scope to CDE and KDE, but GNOME is based completely on Open Source software. The gnome-core package includes the basic programs and libraries that are needed to install GNOME. Install the gnome-core package if you want to use the GNOME desktop environment. You will also need to install the gnome-libs package. If you would like to develop GNOME applications, you will also need to install gnome-libs-devel. If you want to use linuxconf with a GNOME front end, you will also need to install the gnome-linuxconf package. REQUIRES: gdk-pixbuf gnome-libs libglade BUILD REQUIRES: scroll-keeper PACKAGING: Package gnome-core contains all run-time files. Package gnome-core-devel contains the static libraries, include files and gnome panel references documentation. They are required to build applets or any other panel add-ons. Package gnome-core-docs contains the online help files for applets (/opt/gnome/share/gnome/help/*), they are in HTML format. Package gnome-core-i18n contains message translations (*.mo files) and online help files in other languages (mainly in it and ja).
