C.U.O.N. is the acronym for Common Universally Organized Network
C.U.O.N. is an ERP System for Linux-Server with Clients running on Linux, Windows and a lot other Systems that provide Python. It has a big Address-Module with newsletter, Document Management System, Notes and email-notification. Also articles, Support Tickets, Projects, Orderbook,Accounting, Mindmap and a lot more. Also some special modules for Gardening center.
In the Year 2001 I thought about an ERP-Program for LINUX. First tries with c++ and postgres are to conventional and I thought about ERP and Network. So the design of C.U.O.N. is this: On a host ( or different hosts ) runs the python twisted-Server. The Database Backend is realized with Postgres. The clients ( at this time only my python client ) communicate with xmlrpc, so many different languages are supported ( java, c++, ruby, etc. ). Some example: The client will look at a document ( a invoice ). It send the data via xmlrpc to the communication-server. This server takes several sql-queries and send them to the report-server. This server generates the report, convert it to a pdf-file and send this file back. Now the communication-server sends this to the client. The client open a pdf-viewer and have a look at the document.
At this time, cuon has the standard modules like addresses, articles, stock, order and some specials like a
DMS - ( Document management System ) which can scan documents, save OpenOffice? docs, Images, speech and so on
AI - an expert system with several bot funktions
Project - a project management system with project, phases and task, personal resources and material-resources.
iCalendar - the date and times are send to an iCal-File and so you can use them with evolution or kontact.
The GUI and logic are strictly separately, the GUI are build with glade.
The servers are: cuon_xmlrpc - communication with the clients, Postgres and other server cuon_web - iCalendar and web cuon_report - reportserver, pdf-creator cuon_ai - parse normal sentences and translate it to keywords for sql-queries

C.U.O.N. ist ein Akronym für Common Universally Organized Network
Im Jahr 2001 dachte ich mal über ein ERP System für Linux nach. Es sollte aber nicht nur eine simple Warenwirtschaft sein, sondern mehr. Als erstes probierte ich es mit c++, aber das war von der Produktivität nicht ausreichend, ich war alleiniger Programmierer, Designer, Distributor und so musste alles produktiver sein. Dann entdeckte ich Python und es ist traumhaft!!. Nun konnte ich folgendes Design verwirklichen: Auf dem Server laufen verschiedene Twisted-Python Server, die mit der Datenbank verbunden sind. Die Clients kommunizieren über XMLRPC mit dem Server, so das der Client in verschiedenen Sprachen realisiert werden kann. Selbstverständlich steht C.U.O.N. unter der GPL v3 .

GUI und Programmlogik sind strikt getrennt, so kann die GUI leich angepaßt werden
CUON ist eine äusserst anpassungsfähige Software. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Programmen in diesem Genre wurde auf äusserste Flexibilität Wert gelegt. Das möchte ich hier anhand der GUI. also des Ausehens und Erscheinungsbildes, erklären.
Ich werde mehrmals im Jahr auf dieses Thema angesprochen und will hier neben den Erklärungen im Wiki das Konzept von CUON verdeutlichen. Das Program ist von Anfang an in Programmcode und grafische Benutzerschnittstelle (GUI) getrennt worden. Viele sagen dem Aussehen eine gewisse Einfachheit nach und das stimmt auch! Ich bin eben Programmierer und kein Designer. Aber man kann CUON sehr schnell und effektiv anpassen und das machen auch einige Firmen. Also:
In CUON kann jede Maske beliebig verändert werden mit den Designtool GLADE. Diese veränderten Masken können, müssen aber nicht, von den Clients genutzt werden. Also kann ein Mischbetrieb genutzt werden, in dem z.B. der Chef einen Nokia N800 mit einer kleinen Oberfläche nutzt, während die Kontakter an hochauflösenden 19" Bildschirmen die komplette Adressmaske sehen. Einige mögens bunt, andere nicht. Wer das Menü lieber an der Seite oder unten hat, bitte sehr, kein Problem. Aber es geht noch viel komplexer !! Wenn z.B. in einer Fa. ein spezielles Datenfeld gebraucht wird, das nicht in CUON vorhanden ist, kann dies innerhalb weniger Minuten hinzugefügt werden:

Natürlich würde ich mich freuen, wenn Ihr eure geänderten GUI's mir zur Verfügung stellt, damit ich sie in die Standard-Version einbauen kann. Dann haben alle etwas davon.
