  • Provides partial realtime protection, which will give you added piece of mind on Windows 9x-based machines, or a second opinion/safety net on machines where you don't completely trust the existing AV. It's generally simple and easy to get going, works well and doesn't slow your machine down too much, although there is some unnecessary overhead reloading the virus database each time a file is scanned, due to scanning files using clamscan rather than clamd (which isn't included with ClamWin). A performance advantage might be gained by including clamd with ClamSentinel, but still using ClamWin's virus databases, which are of course automatically updated by ClamWin. If you want to use ClamWin as your main/only antivirus, this project is a good step towards real time protection, but bare in mind that it is not yet as comprehensive or sophisticated as a "true" on-access guard.
