- A session you left for lunch was closed while you were out. 0.44.3 cut the staleness threshold from twelve hours to one, on the reasoning that an hour outlasts lunch. An hour is lunch: the first person to leave a terminal and come back to it found the session gone from the dashboard. On the machine this was checked against, 44 sessions had paused for over an hour and then carried on working, and 86 of those pauses were between one and three hours — a meeting, a walk, an afternoon on something else.
Eight hours now. The threshold only exists to catch a session that ended
without saying so — kill -9, a closed terminal, a crashed host — because
SessionEnd ends an ordinary session the moment it ends. So it can afford to
be slow, and the two mistakes are not symmetric: a stale row costs a line in
a list until the next sweep, while one wrongly ended vanishes from the
dashboard with its owner still working in it.
