How to translate CanReg into a new language

Intro

This folder contains everything you need to start translating CanReg5 into your own language - just download translations.zip, unzip, and start translating using your favourite text editor. Alternatively, and I would recommend this, you can use the excellent (and free) Attesoro tool. You can also use this to update a current translation.

Step-by-step using Attesoro

Download the translations.zip and unzip this somewhere.
Download Attesoro from http://attesoro.org.
Launch Attesoro (make sure you have the Java Runtime Environment installed.)
Click "File" and "Open..." in Attesoro and locate any .properties file that you unzipped above to translate that file. (Basically you'll have to translate all the .properties files in all the sub folders from the zip file.)
Add the new language you want to add by going to the "Edit" menu and choose "Locale" and "New". Pick your language. (If this already exist, but you still want to add a new language (for example Portugese from Portugal when Brazilian Portuguese already exists), you should also pick the country. Like this you only have to translate the keys that are different.)
Translate a key by clicking the name of the Key and type in the upper right text box. If you want you can also write comments, but they are only visible in the translation files - not the CanReg5 program itself. Please note that you don't have to translate all the keys - only the ones in capital case (like "ALREADY LOGGED IN.") and the ones ending in ".text", ".shortDescription", ".title". (There might be some things that doesn't follow this rule, but you can always see if this has been translated into other languages and decide based on that.) Optionally you can translate the keys ending with ".icon" if you think an icon is counter intuitive in the language you translate to. (For a complete list of icons distributed with the CanReg software please refer to the source code.)
Save the properties file and open the next one.
When you have translated all properties files you can zip the folder containing them and send the zip file back to me and I'll create a test version of CanReg5 for you in your own language for you to see if this works as you'd expect before distributing your translations along with the official version of CanReg.
