Browsentic can now know who you are, if you tell it: a Profile on the settings page gives the agent your real details and your standing rules, and it is told never to invent one. A saved tool can also run by itself on every visit, and hands-free is one click or one key away. 0.7.12 and 0.7.13 were never published on their own, so this release carries all three steps, newest first.

The extension and the daemon speak a new protocol (22), so update both together: npx browsentic update, then ↻ on the Browsentic card. The Mac and Windows apps do both from their Overview tab.

On Chrome, Edge and the other Chromium browsers the extension asks for one new permission, userScripts. Only a tool you set to run on every visit uses it, and only once you switch on Allow User Scripts for Browsentic. Firefox gains no permission.

0.7.14 · Hands-free from anywhere, and an Extension section in settings

  • Open hands-free from the popup, beside Open side panel, or from the right-click menu's Open Browsentic (Hands Free), which reads Close while the mic is on the page. Both appear only where hands-free works (#51)
  • Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+Shift+B (⌥⇧B on a Mac) opens or closes the side panel, and Alt+Shift+H starts or stops hands-free. The browser hands out these keys unless another extension already holds them, and you change them on its own shortcuts page. Firefox gets the side-panel one (#51)
  • Settings' Appearance is now Extension: the theme, then what belongs to this browser alone. That is which right-click items it shows, its keyboard shortcuts with a link to change them, and hold to talk. An old #appearance link lands there (#51)
  • Watch shows the run it points at. The in-progress banner, a task card's Watch and the session rail now bring the run's tab forward. A scheduled run in a background tab is no longer shown as the conversation of the tab in front (#50)

0.7.13 · A saved tool that runs on every visit

  • Keep a tool and have it run by itself each time you visit its page. The keep prompt and /remove-tools have a switch for it, off by default. The tool runs once the page has loaded and gone quiet, and again when a single-page site navigates back into its scope (#49)
  • It runs as a Chrome user script, so there is no debugging bar, DevTools can stay open, a page's content-security policy does not stop it, and it survives a restart. Chrome needs Allow User Scripts on Browsentic's card in chrome://extensions. The panel points you there and notices by itself when it is on (#49)
  • Scope is checked in the page by the same rule / uses: the exact origin, then the first path segment. The agent is told which kept tools run on every visit, so it looks before redoing their work. Chromium only (#49)

0.7.12 · A Profile the agent reads on every run

  • A Profile section on the settings page: your name, email, phone, address, company and job title, up to 20 details of your own as label and value, and up to 4,000 characters of standing instructions. Save writes it all at once; nothing is sent while you type (#48)
  • The agent uses those exact values and never makes one up. Whatever is filled in reaches every side-panel run and scheduled task. When a form needs a detail you have not saved, the agent leaves the field empty and says which detail is missing, rather than guessing a middle name, a postcode or an email (#48)
  • Your instructions are kept as firmly as its own. They win over a skill and site notes, but they cannot loosen Browsentic's own rules or skip an approval. An edit reaches the next turn of a conversation already under way (#48)
  • Kept in ~/.browsentic/profile.json, beside config.json but apart from it, so the config stays safe to paste into a bug report. Every paired browser sees a save or a hand edit of the file. The Mac and Windows apps do not edit it yet (#48)
  • A password, key, token or card number is refused, with the field named. Browsentic seals those in the browser so that no model ever reads them. A phone number is never mistaken for a card (#48)

Install

macOS — installs the app, and the app installs everything else, Node included:

:::sh
curl -fsSL https://browsentic.com/install.sh | sh

The Browsentic-0.7.14.dmg below is the same app. It is not notarized yet, so a downloaded copy is blocked on first open: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. The line above avoids that.

Windows 10 or 11 (experimental) — installs the app, and the app installs everything else, Node included:

:::powershell
irm https://browsentic.com/install.ps1 | iex

The Browsentic-0.7.14-x64-setup.exe and -arm64-setup.exe below are the same app. They are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns on a downloaded copy: More info → Run anyway. The line above avoids that.

Any platform — macOS, Windows or Linux, with Node.js 20 or newer:

:::sh
npx browsentic@0.7.14 setup

That installs the extension, starts the daemon and prints a pairing code. Then load the folder it names at chrome://extensions with Developer mode on, and paste the code into the popup.

Firefox — 140 or newer:

:::sh
npx browsentic@0.7.14 setup --browser firefox

That prints the link to browsentic-0.7.14-firefox.xpi below, signed by Mozilla, and a pairing code. Open the link in Firefox, accept both prompts, and paste the code into the popup. Firefox updates the add-on by itself from then on. If the command says the file is not attached yet, Mozilla is still signing it.

Already running an older version? npx browsentic update refreshes the command and the extension in place and keeps your browser paired. Press ↻ on the Browsentic card afterwards; Firefox needs nothing pressed, and the Mac and Windows apps offer the update on their Overview tab.

From the zips, or from source The `-chrome.zip` and `-firefox.zip` below are the same builds, for loading by hand. Release Firefox installs only the signed `.xpi`; the zip is for Developer Edition or Nightly. :::sh git clone --branch v0.7.14 https://github.com/imshaikot/browsentic.git cd browsentic && yarn setup && yarn daemon:link browsentic setup
