browsentic Files

Browsentic now installs in Firefox, runs on five agent CLIs, and keeps every browser you pair connected at once.

Firefox

• A signed add-on that Firefox keeps up to date. Every release now carries browsentic-<version>-firefox.xpi, signed by addons.mozilla.org. npx browsentic setup --browser firefox links it and pairs; Firefox checks the release page about once a day and updates itself. No folder to load and no ↻ (#20, closes [#7])
• A Firefox agent is offered only what Firefox can do. The nine tools that need Chrome's debugger stay off its list, and each paired browser is served its own list (#19)

Five agents

• Mistral Vibe (vibe), beta. A Le Chat subscription or a Mistral key is a way in. Its shell and file tools never load, and every browser tool is granted by name (#10, closes [#9])
• Grok Build (grok), beta. The first runner contained in both directions: a per-run tool list and a kernel sandbox (#22, closes [#8])
• The picker shows each agent's mark, and beta beside the two that have not carried a whole conversation on the real CLI yet. A run that fails says why (#23)
• An agent whose run its reader has failed is stopped, instead of left spending tokens unwatched (#22)

Several browsers at once

• Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc and Firefox can all be paired to one daemon. Each is known by an install id, none takes the link from another, and an outside MCP caller reaches the one you were last in (#18)
• The browser you focused last wins, even when two were focused within the same millisecond (#23)

Cheaper runs

• Tool results ship as compact JSON, tool schemas lost their boilerplate, page_getPageInfo says the layout once, screenshots capture at the page's own pixel size unless kept, and a conversation's tool list no longer changes between messages, so the cached prefix survives a follow-up (#17)

Mac app

• Update from the Overview tab. The app checks GitHub and npm, downloads the disk image, verifies it and swaps itself in place; the next launch refreshes the CLI and the extension (#15)

Fixes

• Voice: the microphone is granted from a tab, since a side panel and a popup can never ask (#16)
• macOS: the build asks SwiftPM where each slice landed, which Swift 6.4 moved
• Extension: the reconnect backoff is forgotten only once a link has held for 30 seconds, so two browsers no longer take the link from each other

Under the hood

• Every check runs under Vitest with per-area coverage floors, and the daemon is covered from the agent runners to the MCP server (#14, [#21])
• The README and browsentic.com show which browsers and which agents Browsentic works with, and the install guide names Windows and Linux (#23)

Install

macOS — installs the app, and the app installs everything else, Node included:

The Browsentic-0.7.0.dmg below is the same app. It is not notarized yet, so a downloaded copy is blocked on first open: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. The line above avoids that.

Any platform — macOS, Windows or Linux, with Node.js 20 or newer:

That installs the extension, starts the daemon and prints a pairing code. Then load the folder it names at chrome://extensions with Developer mode on, and paste the code into the popup.

Firefox — 140 or newer:

That prints the link to browsentic-0.7.0-firefox.xpi below, signed by Mozilla, and a pairing code. Open the link in Firefox, accept both prompts, and paste the code into the popup. Firefox updates the add-on by itself from then on. If the command says the file is not attached yet, Mozilla is still signing it.

Already running an older version? npx browsentic update refreshes the command and the extension in place and keeps your browser paired. Press ↻ on the Browsentic card afterwards; Firefox needs nothing pressed, and the Mac app offers the update on its Overview tab.

From the zips, or from source

The `-chrome.zip` and `-firefox.zip` below are the same builds, for loading by hand.
