BridgeLab 1.1.0

A fast follow-up to 1.0 focused on the first-run experience and on seeing the whole standard, not just your message.

✨ New

Full standard-structure view

With View → Show standard fields enabled, the Message Structure tree now shows the complete structure the HL7 standard defines for your message type — not just the segments present in the message. Segments the standard expects but your message doesn't contain appear as grayed ghost rows at their standard position, annotated with their group (e.g. PATIENT_RESULT / ORDER_OBSERVATION), required/optional, repeating and choice status. Expand a ghost segment to see its full field list, and expand composite fields down to their components — OBX-16 → XCN.1 ID Number, XCN.2 Family Name, …. Works across all seven shipped HL7 versions; unused fields inside present segments now expand into components too.

Double-click and "Open with"

The installer registers the .hl7 extension: double-clicking a file now opens it as a new tab in the already-running BridgeLab window (bringing it to front) instead of starting a second instance — and starts the app with the file open when it isn't running yet.

Drag & drop that actually works

Dropping message files onto the window now opens them — anywhere, including the welcome screen, multiple files at once in drop order. (The desktop webview never received browser-style file drops; BridgeLab now listens to the native drop event with real file paths.)

🐞 Fixed

  • File-open failures are visible everywhere. Errors while opening a file used to be written into the active tab's content — on the welcome screen, with no tabs, they vanished entirely, making a failing open look like a dead button. Failures now surface in a proper error dialog with the underlying reason.
  • Bottom panels no longer stack off-screen. Validation, Communication and FHIRPath share one resizable container as tabs: each is always fully visible at any height, the Communication panel keeps its listener console while in a background tab, and opening a panel from the menu, a shortcut or the status bar brings its tab to the front.
  • The first edit right after opening a file re-parses correctly (it could previously be swallowed, leaving the tree stale until a second edit).
