Bol Processor Release Notes
Version 2.9.7 beta
January 18, 2010

Files released:

BP-2.9.7-beta-OSX.dmg Application for Mac OS X 10.4 or later
BP-2.9.7-beta-source.dmg Source code for Mac OS X
BP-2.9.7-beta-source.tgz Source code for porting to other OSes

Changes in this version:

Bol Processor is now a "universal binary". This means that it runs natively on all Mac OS X computers (with either an Intel or PowerPC processor). There may still be problems from the conversion to Intel Macs, so let us know if you encounter any.

This beta release requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later to run whereas previous releases ran on 10.2 or later. It should still be possible to compile BP for 10.2 or 10.3 but it is more work to make a universal binary that supports those versions and we have not yet completed that task. Please let us know if you are still using OS X 10.2 or 10.3, otherwise we may conclude that there is no interest. In the meantime, BP 2.9.6 fully supports 10.2 or later.

This version is no longer compatible with the "Classic" Mac OS (Mac OS 9 and earlier). Please use BP 2.9.6 if you need Classic support.

Bol Processor is now built with Apple's Xcode tools which are included with Mac OS X or can be downloaded for free from <http://developer.apple.com/tools/xcode/>. This makes it much easier for all of you to help us improve Bol Processor!

Fixed a problem where transforms could not be defined on English convention note symbols (like C1, D2, etc.). It is now possible for any terminal symbol to begin with an uppercase letter.

Fixed some other problems including BP2 using WAY too much CPU time when it was doing nothing. BP 2.9.7 will still consume around 5% of CPU time when idling until we can overhaul its legacy event handling code.
